First Crime story you remember?

I would say the first one I remember was Damilola Taylor briefly , I was about 7 and remember seeing it on the news.

Saph 29-12-2019 08:00 PM

those two girls from Manchester (I think) who got murdered by the school janitor

I remember it was a big deal in primary school back in the day

LeatherTrumpet 29-12-2019 08:42 PM

Jesus being crucified

Madeleine McCann when I was 6/7, even back then I remember knowing quite a bit about it which seems bizarre.

My mum would usually bring up the James Bulger case as a reason to keep me on a tight leash.

Beastie 29-12-2019 09:10 PM

Jack the ripper.

smudgie 29-12-2019 09:33 PM

Same for me. I actually went on two holidays at a similar time to the case (one whilst it was first being published, and the other a year later) and I remember my parents being so cautious on them.

But as I was so young (I’m not sure of your age, but we are either the same age or you’re slightly older) I’m shocked at how clearly I remember it.

Growing up and seeing my sister's fashion sense

LaLaLand 29-12-2019 09:57 PM

James Bulger I think.

Cal. 29-12-2019 09:58 PM

My mam would spook me with Holly and Jessica to keep me close by

Marsh. 29-12-2019 09:58 PM

And to stop you flirting with men at the school gates.

Kizzy 29-12-2019 10:35 PM

Well it's not a crime but I remember them announcing that elvis had died on the radio and my mum being upset by it. I was 5ish at the time. The next thing was I think Hillsborough.

Cal. 29-12-2019 10:58 PM

But yeah the Madeleine McCann case is so vividly clear to me despite being only 7 at the time.

Those two girls that were wearing Manchester United shirts? Sounds weird to say because I can’t remember their names as I was clearly so young to only remember that - and a little about them being killed. There was just a picture of them both in Manchester United shirts that was used on the news

Maddie for sure, I remember my mum drumming it into me that you cant walk away from your mum or dad no matter what and a girl from class 5 had an adopted sister and all the kids were convinced it was Maddie

Maddie for me too, i remember my family thinking something dodgy is going on with the parents. I believed she was kidnapped then but i’m not so sure anymore now.

Kazanne 30-12-2019 08:56 AM

James Bulger.

Gstar 30-12-2019 10:00 AM

I briefly remember Damilola but my first real crime memory was Sarah Payne

My niece is 6 months older than Madeleine and it really frightened her. She's 17 now... hard to believe Madeleine McCann would be coming up to 17 too.

Jigs 31-12-2019 02:26 PM

Madeleine McCann
