Arista, this is wrong. The president has already been impeached. She is now handing over the papers for the trial in the senate which will determine if the crimes are serious enough for him to be removed from office or not. He is an impeached president.

Following the constitution is not a waste of time, they had no choice but to follow the law, whether or not the republicans want to remove him or not is their issue and completely against the point, they’re the ones who’ll be remembered as the bad guys, impeachment was the only choice
