the phrase 'Break The Internet'

does this phrase really annoy anyone else? I think it started when Kim K did paper magazine a few years ago and that was the tagline used, and people thought she actually had broken the internet... and now I see it being used everywhere for stupid things that wouldn't even affect a server let alone break the internet..

Yes. It really annoys me. I have to say though, I'm more sick of people beginning sentences with "So..."

Then I'm sorry Kate, but I will have to think of some form or punishment and make an example of you. Nothing personal... x

GoldHeart 21-01-2020 01:15 PM

Yeah it does get used for silly things which can be annoying  .

Calderyon 21-01-2020 01:16 PM

Would "Blew up the internet" be better?

Calderyon 21-01-2020 01:20 PM

And yes the phrase in the OP is irritating.

Jigs 21-01-2020 02:29 PM

My BAD puppy broke the internet by chewing through the telephone extension cable that runs to the router a couple of weeks ago. :fist:

I know you weren't saying it this way but it reminded me of another one that's annoying that came out of nowhere "My Bad" as in "oh sorry, my bad"

UGH!

I hate this too. I think it came from American films and now everyone says it. Annoying.

I also spent way too long thinking about whether it was like a weird version of "Am I bad" or like a childish sounding way of saying the mistake I made is actually a thing called bad and it's mine (if that makes any sense? I know what I mean in my head but I can't verbalise it very coherently)

Oh I'm not saying the phrase came from films, I mean it's an American phrase that caught on over here because of films.
