The new Show White film is gaining lots of publicity

and it's all bad!

I don't know too much about it all, even the original i can't really remember, but i've been getting various shorts and videos popping up in my youtube feed recently, and it seems like the live action movie (comes out March next year) is trying to distance itself from the original story as much as possible.

I've never heard of the actress playing Snow White, but it's like she really, really hates the original, which doesn't make too much sense???

I looked at the trailers, the dislike to like ratio is about 80% dislike to 20% like. Im not so much bothered about the film, the animated version, or this new one, but im more interested in how it's being promoted and marketed, seems like it could be another big flop from a massive US company.

(comes out March next year)

That could change
Due to Strikes out there

Possibly, im not sure of the process now tbh.

Oh and they cast only one dwarf, the rest of the "dwarfs" are fully grown men?!

LeatherTrumpet 24-08-2023 12:32 PM

Just a dreadful woke take on a classic and she comes across as a hideous little entitled hag

DemolitionRed 24-08-2023 12:35 PM

I wouldn't waste your money. Go and see "Sound of Freedom" the film all governments around the globe have been tying (unsuccessfully) to stop.

Livia 24-08-2023 12:43 PM

Wasn't she called Snow White because her skin was white as snow?

Stick to the story or make something else.

Nicky91 24-08-2023 12:44 PM

that actress was dropped from that role so good move from Disney doing that

what a horrible attitude that girl has :idc:

original snow white film too scary for her liking, like how :umm2:

Swan 24-08-2023 12:44 PM

I was wrong about the like/dislike ratio. 3.4k likes - 115K dislikes. This is shaping up to be a massive box office bomb. Make a film about whatever you like, but it seems they're so anti the original version, why even call it Snow White? It doesn't have the Dwarfs, and it's nothing like the original, story wise anyway.

Livia 24-08-2023 12:49 PM

I don't understand why they feel the need to put black actors in roles from old European fairy tales. I understand the Little Mermaid has moved from Denmark and is now a black Caribbean character. It's nonsense.

Oliver_W 24-08-2023 12:56 PM

There are plenty of Snow White films which take a different direction with the story, and they don't all feature dwarfs. Having a gobby entitled privileged little madam in the role won't make this film different to the other alternative takes.

Halle is a fine casting for Ariel

also makes sense to go for this authentic caribbean character approach for Little Mermaid, tbh one of the songs Under the Sea already gave me a tropical vibe

Javier Bardem plays Ariel's father King Triton btw, Melissa McCarthy is a good casting for Ursula, that lady literally oozes comedy

That's fine, but isn't it strange that the actress who's playing Snow White is trashing the original as much as she can, in the promotion of the live action mainstream remake?

I watched an interview with a dwarf actor Dylan Postl (played Hornswoggle in WWE for 10 years) and he was saying they'll never get main action roles as dwarfs, but in a film like Snow White it is costing dwarf actors jobs, because it's not just the actors, it's the stunt people too. It's ironic in the risk of trying not to "offend" they're offending and taking money off the people they're trying not to offend?

arista 24-08-2023 01:06 PM

Sure Hollywood
is cutting corners.

The Film Maker reserves the right.

They are happy to use effects
to get Men reduced in size

Nicky91 24-08-2023 01:08 PM

Miss Zegler is just a dumb drama queen, and with that attitude may i hope she'll never get asked for anything else, because who wants to work with someone with that horrible mindset

we need a bigger casting for the role of Snow anyway, because the evil queen already has a A-Lister casting in Gal Gadot, excellent next role for Gal, whom we basically know more from action films and from wonder woman, she is a great actress, i also liked her role in the Poirot remake Death on the Nile

Sure, it's not the "best look" to have the main actor trashing the thing on which their film is based. But that means little when it comes to the product itself.

Hollywood has always been full of stuck-up privileged pampered morons, but in this age of social media, their true selves are more visible. And as long as it doesn't impact their work, who cares?

I'm sure a lot of all of our favourite older (than Zegler) actors wouldn't be perceived in the best light, if their every thought was put out there.

I just find it very strange is all. Im not gonna pretend i care about the film, it's not aimed at my demographic anyway, im more interested in how Disney handle the backlash.

in both the original film, and also in the series Once Upon a Time

and now that Zegler bitch is out of the picture, maybe we do need a darker version to this, a more alternative reality in which the Evil Queen has her ''happy ending'' with her own Prince as her true love

Livia 24-08-2023 04:42 PM

They should stick to the story. Or... Write a new story.

She hasn't been fired.

And nor should she be. Acting like a twit on social media shouldn't cost her her job.

I thought people's problem was that Zegler was too dark :hehe:

Who cares what people think?

They’re the same people who threw a hissy fit over a fictional mermaid being played by a black girl.

People with opinions like that aren’t worth anyone’s time.

This I actually found to be really awful on a few fronts.

1. Stopping small Actors from getting work.

2. It destroys a portion of the title of the story.

3. The idea of the "Bandits" that I've heard the remake is going for sounds more like a bunch of Robin Hood's than the meant to be comedic Dwarves.

And obviously there is the Snow White raceswapping stuff, which again for this particular Movie hurts the narrative of the story.

Yesterday I was having a debate with my Brother about franchises dramatically changing expectations and how I personally never support drastic changes, don't get me wrong I get that it's a remake so it therefore has more room for experimentation, but it should never be at the expense of the core narrative.

Because I say this as well because even though I have never watched the Animated Snow White Movie myself, I know that it's not meant to be whatever this remake is trying to be.

And look I get that they do have to modernize it from the 1930's Animated Movie, but like any changes it should be complimentary to the series, not a show destroyer.

Snow White at it's heart is meant to be a Kids Fairy Tale story with some Comedy from the Dwarves thrown in (none of this height diverse cringe that Disney tried to spout for those roles) and a bit of Romance/true love wins out messaging.

Tbf to Disney and Snow White, they're not the only ones doing drastic changes to their works, just look at the Video Game industry with Uncharted 4, Resident Evil & Yakuza 7, all of these series started out very different to how their finishing off.

Isn't that also a very Political Film though?

Those Films tbf weren't selling themselves as a remake to the Animated Movie, made by Disney itself.
