Family warns straight-talking Robert Kilroy-Silk to 'behave' on I'm a Celebrity
Former TV host Robert Kilroy-Silk has been ordered to behave on I'm A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here! by his anxious family who are concerned the outspoken star's big mouth might get him in trouble.

Mr Kilroy-Silk, 66, denied he was planning to be controversial on the show, which is set in the Australian jungle.

'I’m on strict instructions from my daughter and my wife to behave,' he said.

'I’ve got a long list of all the dos and the don’ts – and I’m going to be impeccably behaved.'

He added: 'I won’t go out of my way to cause trouble or to cause offence. I’m not playing a role for anybody. I’m going to be me.'

But the MEP warned he would not hold back his 'strong opinions and strong views'.

'I generally find it very difficult not to express a view,' he said.

'I’m also very straightforward. If I’ve got something to say to someone, I’ll say it to their face.'

Mr Kilroy-Silk was axed by the BBC in 2004 for writing an article in a newspaper entitled 'We Owe Arabs Nothing'.

He today hit out at the broadcaster over its different treatment of Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand when they left crude messages on the answerphone of actor Andrew Sachs.

Mr Kilroy-Silk insisted he was fired for saying ‘something true’ – describing Arabs as ‘suicidebombers, limb-amputators and women repressors’.

He said a whole ‘different set of standards’ seem to apply to Ross, 47, and Brand, 33.

He added: ‘I find that whole situation extraordinary. I was sacked for saying something true about Muslim states. It wasn’t on the BBC, it was in a newspaper article.

‘Those two individuals used a BBC channel to make an obscene comment over the airwaves. My programme was taken off the air within two days largely due to complaints from a Muslim website.’

Mr Kilroy-Silk, best known for his daytime talk show Kilroy, said he was asked to do both Celebrity Big Brother and I'm a Celebrity for the past three years, but had turned it down.

He denied his appearance was designed to get his chat show back on air.

I’ve no great desire to be on television', he said. 'I never particularly wanted to be on television. My sole ambition was to be a member of British Parliament. I’ve got a very good life at the moment.'

But he added that his political career had come to an end and would not rule out a return to television.

'If, however, something was offered to me and I found it attractive, challenging and the money was worthwhile, then yes – I’d probably be interested.'

The former Labour MP joined UKIP before a row led to him becoming leader of eurosceptic party Veritas.

Although he quit Veritas, he continues to sit as a independent MEP in the Euro parliament.

Mr Kilroy-Silk will join celebrities including former glamour model Nicola McLean, WAG Carly Zucker, former Wimbledon champion Martina Navratilova and Star Trek actor George Takei in the jungle.

I doubt he will be able to hold back his views for too long.

If he doesn't come up with a few racial slurs then the producers wouldn't have gotten their moneys worth. For what other reason would they have invited him on?
