Ohhh, well they've kind of screwed up then because they keep giving you a choice of what path to take, and they describe the Gladio/Ignis path as "easy" and Noctis as "Normal" so I never chose it!...

Apparently you can plough through the main quest in under 20 hours if you ignore most of the other stuff, but there are a tonne of side quests / hunts etc.
