There was a World cup last year, Ireland was in that, they did ok and played well but they don't stand any chance of beating the likes of Australia, New Zealand or England at the moment, like they do in Rugby Union, they're more of an emerging nation in Rugby League.
England reached the World cup final, not that anybody would have known, it's far too much of a working class Northern sport for the people who run the national media.
