It's not discrimination at all.

She's had a very male centric slate of commissions, so now wants to broaden the range of content so is requesting a more gender balanced input. It's the entire opposite of discrimination. She hasn't put a big sign up saying "No Men!!"

More TV execs need to take a long hard look at their entire output and see what is repetitive and very samey and work towards broadening the range of voices being given the opportunity to add their voices to the choir.

More diversity is only a good thing, not just for opening up opportunities for more talent behind the scenes, but also giving the viewer a wider range of products to enjoy.

If everyone writing for TV comes from the same backgrounds/experiences, you're going to get an extremely vanilla output.
