Tbh I think the reason he's gone with these three big names as leads is really because it's a HOLLYWOOD MOVIE. If we had three leads who perhaps weren't "at the top" we wouldn't be as invested as them supposedly being "big stars" in the movie, yano? Idk, that's my theory.

It's a movie celebrating Old Hollywood, so why wouldn't he use "the cream of the crop" of today's Hollywood to do this kind of thing.

Apart from those three, the "main characters" otherwise are relatively up and coming (Margaret Qualley, Dakota Fanning, Mike Moh, Damon Herriman etc).
