I couldn't give a name - someone like Caroline Flint analysed the reasons for the election result properly - but she lost her seat.
The two main reasons for the Labour result: - The mistake of the 2nd EU Referendum policy (and the perception of Labour blocking Brexit) which alienated the working-class leave vote.
- Corbyn and Labour being too left-wing which put off the middle class vote.
So someone from the centre ground - not a Corbyn protege - that acknowledges the mistake on Brexit policy. Blair was hated by people on the left but he understood how the country changed during the 80s. He is the only Labour leader to actually win a general election since Harold Wilson.
The third thing for me is that Labour needs a leader that is credible in Scotland, and will take back votes off the SNP, because Corbyn was a disaster up here. |
