It’s not helpful to pretend gender doesn’t exist. It does. And some male-borns have brains which resemble the typical female brains and vice versa. It’s something that will always happen.
This doesn’t really have anything to do with the OP though. Of course babies have a sex. The labour woman was daft saying that. She probably meant babies don’t have a gender. She would’ve been close to correct.
