- Public vote axed, Marco gains power?
- Anthea Turner, Ms Dynamite, Jody Latham, Brian Blessed among celebrities competing?

Quote:
CHEF Marco Pierre White is sharpening his knives after being told that HE will give the celebrities the chop on Hell’s Kitchen.

Bosses have scrapped the traditional audience vote to hand more power to the bandana-loving cook.

And Marco, 47, is thrilled by the new rule — which mirrors Gordon Ramsay’s US version of the British hit.

A show source said: “Marco is rubbing his hands with glee, he can’t wait to get to grips with his new crew.

“He loves being in control and this is perfect for him. He won’t flinch at telling precious celebrities what he thinks of them.

“This is the first year they won’t be able to rely on their celebrity status to save them. Expect blood, sweat and tears as they try their hardest to stay in.”

The new twist will be a particular perk for Marco, who was upset at seeing journalist Rosie Boycott become the first to get the boot in 2007.

And our source added: “Marco made no secret of the fact that Rosie was a hard worker in the kitchen last time and he didn’t agree that she left the competition so early.

“This time he’ll be able to keep the grafters and get rid of anyone who doesn’t live up to his standards.”

This year’s amateur chefs include Danielle Bux, Ms Dynamite — starring as her real name Niomi McLean-Daley, Shameless star Jody Latham and actor Brian Blessed.

They will be joined by Dynasty legend Linda Evans, 66, former Liverpool goalie Bruce Grobbelaar, 51, TV presenter Anthea Turner, 48, her husband, property magnate Grant Bovey, and Holby City’s Adrian Edmondson, 52.

The crew will have two weeks to become gourmet chefs — but this year luxury foods such as foie gras and pigeon will be replaced by standard British fare in a move to keep costs to a minimum.

Other budget cuts include a smaller set and one team instead of the usual two.

An insider said: “Last year money was no object but this year everything's going to be a lot less complicated.”

But embattled ITV1 bosses have made one concession — and signed up extra celebrity chefs to beef up the show.

Our source said: “Jean Christophe Novelli will be back giving master classes to the celebs as will Marco Bartoli.”

TV Biz reported earlier that Claudia Winkleman will star in Hell’s Kitchen.

The Strictly Come Dancing — It Takes Two presenter takes over as host.

HELL’S Kitchen will return to ITV1 this week.
