Moral Dilemma #12 - Kiss and Tell
Scenario: You were once in a relationship with someone who has since become famous. Newspapers have a habit of sniffing out potential scandals and come to you asking you if you'll sell any kind of story on your former lover for a large sum of money (£250,000) due to the heights of fame your ex has reached. You never see your ex, what you tell the papers is true and you can't successfully be sued for libel - but if you choose to accept the offer, you face a media backlash from people who admire your ex and receive a lot of abuse from people in the street as a result of your decision. What do you choose? Money with the consequences or keep your story to yourself, despite the extremely easy financial gain you could get?
Edit: Your relationship ended badly, with you being perceived as the victim by mutual friends. The newspaper that has come to you has chosen to come to you first, because your story is the most interesting, but they have another former lover of the ex that they are willing to go to instead of you, if you don't choose to sell your story.
