What that article actually says, between the lines, is this: The woman got a spider bite, but it wasn't serious until she got to hospital where she contracted a flesh-eating bug.

I dunno bout that Livia - a friend of mine was in hospital this summer with a false widow bite - it happened when she was cleaning a flowerpot at the back of the pub she runs , within 30 mins her hand had swollen big time, then her arm started going black , she went to hosp and was in for 10 days ! she has recently had to have a hole drilled into the bone in her hand as the bite had got into the bone = Thats pretty scary
