Well no one is likely ever going to bring vat down since it is one of the easiest and quickest ways of raising funds for the treasury.
The Labour party have not been a party that raises VAT however in govt;or even to extend it.
That has often been done by Conservative govts;
As for Ed Miliband overseeing the Labour govt; rather selective and unfair in my view.
He only became an MP in 2005,he wsn't there for nearly two thirds of its time in govt:
The only mess he made of the VAT question was to not follow it up with were the Conservatives planning to,if not to raise it,(which I still doubt and think they would),then were they planning to extend it to things currently free of VAT, like they did during this parliament.
I wonder what Cameron's answer would have been to that,if he even bothered to think about answering instead of going off on some other totally unrelated issue.
AS for covering up, he doesn't sound ike he is covering up things to me, he has said clearly he believes the Labour govt' was wrong not to regulated the Banks stronger, he stated very clearly in his interview, that Labour got immigration very wrong and he also stated the Iraq involvement was wrong to do too, especially with no plan for the consequences afterwards.
That is far from covering up, it ios refeshing to hear a leader say, this was wrong and that was wrong, and they were big issues he was saying were wrong too.
Ed Miliband would have been far from my choice as leader of the party but I was really impressed with his performance and I agree with the poll done in the days after the interviews, where those who saw the event, 49% felt he was honest in the interview to Cameron only being seen as to I think 28% honest.
Leaders of parties rarely, if ever, admit things were got wrong, he has said that as to 3 issues now and that is refreshing to hear, far from covering anything up, he is happy to acknowledge what was got wrong as well as praising what was done right.
The other thing I liked,was when he said he wanted to move Labour on from the 'new' Labour thing of Tony Blair.
Something else I agree with and again very honest of him too.
