Review from a DS member in the audience:

Quote:
Riiight so we had priority tickets and ended up in Row C directly behind the judges. Don't think it's any reflection on priority as last time we had priority (for the X Factor Final) we got shoved in a corner!! But defo best seats, and had a few guys with cameras come and stand infront of us etc to film us haha...

The spoilers in that other guys thread are 100% correct re: categories. There are 14 from each category through to six chair challenge, although presumably could be less in the groups? Saw two boy bands inbetween Wembley Arena and the hotel across the road.

SO THE GIRLS (all in order)
Soheila Clifford - Love Me Like You Do (Ellie Goulding) Youtube
She was good but not amazing. Sounded better live than she does in that youtube video. Deserved her place in Seat One.

Kayleigh Louise - Somewhere Over The Rainbow (Eva Cassidy)
Young Welsh girl with long dark hair. Very likeable and cutesy. Had a VERY good tone of voice but we all agreed in our group that she would be better for The Voice. That being said, she got a standing ovation from the crowd and Simon used that corny line "You know you're amazing when you could hear a pin drop in the arena." Also deserved to take Seat Two.

Louella(?) Martinez - Run (Leona Lewis)
She was REALLY pretty. I think 17 years old and hispanic obvs from the name. She had a good voice. It started off amazing with the low notes but when it was looking like she was going to be incredible the high notes were all a bit pitchy. She got put through and given the 'you've got bags of potential' card. Seat Three.

Faye Horn - I Know Where I've Been (From Hairspray lmao) Youtube
Assume it was this girl from a few years ago but she was a bit all over the place. Really shouty and oversinging it and you know it's bad when even the judges comment on you having a really big mouth when you sing. It wasn't bad, though? She got given a seat but a bit of a boo from the crowd and nobody got behind her. She looks a lot better now too. Seat Four.

Samantha Lavery - Mamma Knows Best (Jessie J) Youtube
16 years old but looks a lot older and dressed a lot older. She had an okay voice but was very shouty and it was a classic case of picking the wrong song because it was WAY too big for her. The crowd were also not receptive with her at all but she got put in Seat Five for the lols.

Caitlyn Vanbeck - Rise Up (Andra Day) Youtube
I recognised her name when she said it and came on here to see the hype haha. Simon said this was one of his favourites songs so no pressure but she delivered and was I think the most professional all night. She performed the song and was vocally flawless. Standing ovation half way through and huge applause. Seat Six.

Jordanna Miller - Amazing Grace
Can't find her on youtube but she was a 22 year old black girl from East London. She came out and was really funny, worked the crowd well and I thought she was gonna be amazing because it started well but then she kept losing it and was literally just on stage shouting and screaming. When she wasn't screaming it was good, though. Crowd were a bit iffy and were chanting 'OFF' (instead of seat/swap) but she got swapped with Faye and put into Seat Four.

Gifty Louise - Crazy (Gnarls Barkley) Youtube
Wow. Based off her performance last year I didn't expect to be blown away but she smashed it out of the park with her own spin on that song. She took it to church etcetc and was just all round really good. She said that the crowd might remember her from last year but she was disappointed she only got shown when she had lost her voice so wasn't on top form and wanted to show she had so much more to deliver. As I already said, they swapped out Samantha for her and she took Seat Five

Then we had four people who didn't get through...
Ellie Rose - Almost Is Never Enough (Ariana Grande) Youtube - Good but no star quality.

Aliyah/Leah(?) - Crazy (Gnarls Barkley) - Felt sorry for this one. She was from Malaysia but now lived in Sheffield and was actually really good. Even got a standing ovation from most of the crowd but Simon sent her packing because it wasn't as good as Gifty's performance of that song. Literally the only reason and there were lots of 'bring her back' chants.

Zsa Zsa - Me Too (Meghan Trainor) - Lmao what a hot mess from North Wales. Bright green hair and the worst green platform shoes I have EVER seen. This whole performance was literally so bad that even Simon stopped it half way through and said no. She didn't even get judge feedback it was THAT bad. Massive boo's.

Mona - Stop Crying Your Heart Out (Oasis) - Aww she was better than Seat 3/4 for sure. The first half was a bit messy and defo out of tune but last chorus was REALLY good. She was from Paris which is where she is back off to. Again quite a bit of 'bring her back' chanting but not as much as the Malaysian girl.

Emily Middlemas - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Cyndi Lauper) Youtube
Yasss I loved Emily in her year so was glad to see her back. I hate the song which is annoying but she was vocally really good and VERY cutesy and personality. Got a standing ovation and sailed through, taking Seat Four from Jordanna to a load of cheers from the crowd.

and lastly... Olivia Garcia - Changing (Sigma ft. Paloma Faith) Youtube
Last but definitely not least. 16 year old from Wigan and she SMASHED it. Her voice is a lot bigger than her age and it's not an easy song to sing but she did it well. Very pretty too and the judges went craaaazy for her. Got a standing ovation and then took Seat Three from Louella.

It wasn't as strong as I would've liked. I saw (half of) the girls last year and the standard was a LOT higher. Would've liked to have seen Karen Mav or Chloe Paige back as think she would've easily been top 3 in this year.

I think the top three will be out of Caitlyn, Gifty, Olivia and Emily. Will they put two Scottish girls through in the same category!? Kayleigh isn't to be underestimated either as she was really good. Soheila is just fodder.
