. That said I don't think R* are all that keen to have the games historically linked... especially if they're going with "Redemption 2" rather than "Red Dead R[whatever new name]".
It was released and developed by R* though. I just don't think it lived up to their vision of a Western game that they really wanted to make; and so the title of Red Dead Redemption has a bit of a double meaning (the redemption of the character, but also the creation of the game they really wanted to make the first time around).
