Alexandra Burke has reportedly signed up to appear on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing, with the 2008 winner of The X Factor apparently hopeful an appearance will reignite her TV career.

The Bad Boys singer has been pretty successful off our screens and in West End with lead roles in The Bodyguard musical and Sister Act, but it has been a while since the actress has appeared on television.

After her X Factor win, she featured as a guest judge in So You Think You Can Dance UK throughout a number of the auditions and choreography camp stages.

So an appearance on Strictly looks very fitting – and a perfect way for her to return to the limelight and our television screens.

The Broken Heels singer is apparently now hoping that taking part in the BBC ballroom dancing contest will boost interest in her from bosses of other television shows.

A source told The Sun: ‘This seems the perfect way for her to do it. She has heard a lot about how great the experience is and can’t wait to get started. She is already working hard on her fitness.’

A spokesperson for the singer did not confirm she would appear but said it was ‘nice’ she has been linked to the series.

The 28-year-old is not the first celebrity to be linked to the upcoming Strictly series with bosses apparently hoping to sign up Olympian Jessica Ennis Hill and astronaut Tim Peake.

Other names who are rumoured include The Body Coach Joe Wicks, former Gogglebox regulars Steph and Dom Parker, singer Matt Goss and Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds.
