I think it can be said that UKIP was a protest vote for those disenchanted with the main parties pro EU stance. Now the referendum vote has happened they aren't really relevant as a political party and they lack direction without Farage.
One thing you can say about him is he had very good instincts about the mood of the voting public, much better instincts than Labour or Tory leading figures.
