I think that’s a cop-out. It sounds like the old adage blame the mother whenever a child has problems.
Peer pressure is huge and once kids get to a certain age often takes over from parental influence. Youngsters are renowned for following the crowd and taking on board the opinions of others around them as fitting in is so important at that age. I think they should be allowed and expected to take responibility for their own decisions and actions, including any consequences.
