Being fair, I think a lot of the blame lies with harsh and uncaring employers who control employees through intimidation / fear / threat based tactics... a lot of the time those complaining are panicking about being late for work, and that's because a lot of employers
genuinely will not give a **** if an ambulance was blocking your car, they will take disciplinary action against you for being late or not showing up. I've had a written warning for my bus breaking down

So when people feel like they are going to end up delayed and that there are going to be harsh consequences for it, even when unavoidable, they go into panic mode and probably react in ways they might not otherwise.
