The reason we have this govt and not a Labour led one is for several reasons, some which I found on the doorsteps canvassing.
One of the main reasons was that Labour allowed itself to get embroiled in the will they, wont they,as to welcoming support from the SNP ,therein follows the other reason, the massive loss of Labour seats in Scotland although had they handled better the SNP deal nonsense via the media that could have been defused a lot easier with both parties sharing very similar policies.

Another reason was Labour usual supporters who really wanted an EU referendum, were dismayed Ed Miliband had not offered one, that to me was one big error from him.
That then left them with a choice of voting Conservative or UKIP,they never wanted to vote Conservative so went over to UKIP.
Those votes going to UKIP cost Labour likely easily 25 to 30 seats in England and Wales.

Then the main reason, the total crash of the Lib Dem vote, which saw the Conservative party rake in just about all the seats in the far South of England, only 4 seats along the whole far South of England are now not held by the Conservatives.
The Lib Dems overall lost 49 of their 57 seats,of which 26 went to the Conservatives.
That is the only way the Conservatives, despite only rising 0.8% of the votes they got in 2010,while all other parties except for the Lib Dems increased their share by more than 0.8%,'fluked' a win and a surprising small overall majority.

That is the lesson Labour really needs to bear in mind come the next election and the need to avoid this 'fear over hope' scenario the Conservatives played so much on in the May 2015 election.

I agree they have hit on a winning scenario and run with it, the politics of fear... fear of the unknown.
Milliband should've taken that fear and redirected it, his father was a brilliant sociologist surely he could've harnessed that knowledge to counter the mudslinging?

I've changed the title back. It's was confusing having a different topic title, and also I don't think there needs to be single thread for all political chat on the forum.
