Coach/Tyson/Debbie were great villains tbh (and villains I actually couldn't get myself to like so they definitely did their job) and J.T. was a great hero/winner. (and Sierra, Stephen, Taj etc. were great) The season overall was definitely more on the average side though.

Although, I've said this before, I feel like Tyson is a lot better in my mind in hindsight than while I was watching. His dry sarcastic (purposely awkward) humor is something that's grown on me over time although idk, maybe I wouldn't like him much anyway if I rewatched Tocantins or any of his seasons. I'm just mostly going off of finding him a bit funnier in highlights and whatever after my Survivor watch.

20. Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers

Star of the Show: Jessica. Lovely, robbed woman.
Honourable mentions: Christy, Devon, Joe, Dr Mike.
Least favourite: Ben. Could have tolerated him, but in spite of the game being rigged in his favour toward the end, I just found him so obnoxious about it.
Highlight: Lauren’s blindside, or Cole & Jessica’s romance.
Lowlight: Ben finding his nth idol.
Fantastic character season. However, the ending totally ruined the satisfaction of it in the end.

19. The Amazon

Star of the Show: Christy. Irritating queen!
Honourable mentions: Heidi, Matthew and Rob.
Least favourite: Roger.
Highlight: Christy’s hilarious storyline.
Lowlight: Probably how JoAnna treated Christy, or Roger’s homophobia.
I don’t love Amazon quite as much as some seem to. It’s a bit of a Game Changer, but personally for me the cast is somewhat devoid of likeable characters.

18. Philippines

Star of the Show: Lisa. She’s not too popular I gather, and I guess she was annoying, but I really liked her.
Honourable mentions: Abi, Penner, Malcolm, Denise.
Least favourite: Artis.
Highlight: ‘Lord – I mean Jeff’ or Abi dragging Skupin at TC.
Lowlight: RC’s vote-off lol.
Very middle of the road for me, but wholly enjoyable.

17. The Australian Outback

Star of the Show: Jerri.
Honourable mentions: Tina, Alicia, Varner, Kimmi.
Least favourite: Skupin.
Highlight: Alicia vs Kimmi.
Lowlight: Jerri’s vote off!
Everyone feels the same about AO: iconic premerge, but very quickly becomes very dull after the merge. Fantastic cast, though.

16. Africa

Star of the Show: Lindsey Richter. Ugh why has she never returned? I treasure the African premerge, and 90% of that is for her.
Honourable mentions: Kelly, Linda, Ethan.
Least favourite: Frank I guess?
I think Africa’s underrated. The premerge is great, and I really like the final two. The cast has some real gems, and the location is completely unique.

15. San Juan Del Sur

I really can't complain much about anything with this season...the only thing is it really hasn't left much of an impact on me. I barely remember anything about SJDS despite the fact I literally watched it last year. The demise of Jon Rocker was truly a sight to behond I really did struggle to have a firm favourite with SJDS, but Natalie, Jaclyn, Baylor are all pretty great.

14. Worlds Apart

I know it's extremely controversial to rate WA this highly. But to me it was pretty gripping. The behaviour was uncomfortable at times, but watching Mike come out on top following his edge-of-the-seat immunity streak, and knocking out the villains of the season was fantastic. Mama C NEEDS to return some day.

13. Panama - Exile Island

Similarly to SJDS, Panama is a season I remember thoroughly enjoying, but it never really pierces my conscience when I think of my favourite season . I must say though, Courtney's jury speech alone elevates it to Top 20. "A birds gotta fly".

12. Guatamela


This is just a fantastic classic season. Wonderful cast, entirely unique location, and just consistently enjoyable entertainment. Stephe-me was a JOY to behold. No but really, Lydia needs to return some day! Oh also, Judd was unbelievably awful and his timely comeuppance was glorious.

11. Kaoh Rong

Possibly one of the strongest casts of any season. You couldn't write it. Characters like Aubry, Cydney, Joe, Pete, Jason are a dream to see on Survivor.

10. Gabon

Gabon possibly didn't quite meet my stellar expectations, but it is nonetheless a wholly unique, relentlessly entertaining season, with some casting gold. Crystal, Ace, Corinne, Sugar and more were truly one of a kind.

9. Cagayan

Like Gabon, fantastic cast and brilliantly entertaining. The merge vote-off is probably an all-time favourite? And it's rare for me to actually like modern Survivor winners lol, and Tony did that!

8. Blood vs Water

While the cast isn't stellar when you dissect it's components, BvW was one hell of a return to form, and is quite underrated imo. It was fun to see people like Tina and Gervase returning, and Monica's breakout Equally a number of the new players, especially Hayden (who NEEDS a return) were fun to watch. One of my main criticisms is the winner; I've never been a Tyson fan.

7. Micronesia

Although I struggled with the 'mean girls' dominating, it's undeniable how entertaining this season is. It also is home to the Tracey Hughes-Wolf experience

6. Pearl Islands

Just a completely enjoyable early season. Nothing more to say really.

I adore Marquesas bc it's probably the season that REALLY cemented my love for Survivor. The Episodes 7-9 run still holds up as a Survivor peak in my mind. The eighth vote-off of Marquesas truly was game-changing, and so bloody satisfying! So many loveable characters too... Neleh, Kathy, Zoe, Sean And then great villains like Rob, Tammy and John

4. Palau

Gripping on a first watch, and the cast takes you in effortlessly. Nearly everyone brings something to the season.

3. Borneo

Held the top spot for a loooong time on my first watch. Borneo is incredible both on first watch and re-watch. It probably has one of the best stories - it's gripping watching the game turn from an innocent adventure, to a bitter end.

2. China


Quite possibly the best cast Survivor ever produced. And bc of this, it's sheer entertainment from start to finish. While the gameplay isn't overly thrilling, the cast is fantastic, and the best of the bunch make it to the end

1. Heroes vs Villains

There's just something bloody gorgeous about HvV! It is just the perfect final crescendo of the first era of Survivor. Fantastic all-star cast from top to bottom, brilliantly entertaining, and has some of the most hilarious and shocking gameplay of any season; the late premerge and early postmerge is one of the most gripping of any season. It's only right that HvV lands at the top.

For the record, Ghost Island probably is my third least favourite season. Like at least Thailand and All-Stars had one or two people I could root for? And DvG could quite possibly be in my top 5, but I'd need to let the dust settle.

China should've won it out of that top 5 but not bad rankings overall! (decent top 5 choices as well but Palau is a bit of a head scratcher) Not saying I hated it at all but it was a bit of a bland and straight forward season IMO.
