Don't understand those people who get all giddy over Bonfire Night, it's genuinely one of the worst days of the year.

Yes. They make a **** ton of unnecessary noise, which upsets my dog and on a lighthearted note, I can’t hear the telly because of all the distracting banging outside

I read it as if fireworks was a member and thought TiBB had begin its own little Jury System

But more on topic, I don't really mind fireworks if they're in November and on the 5th. Or on other occasions like New Years and Christmas. It should be banned in the spring/summer.

Yup this.

I mean, as a kid my dad always did a little display in the backyard and everything went ok, as he was sensible (and maybe an element of luck, as obviously things could happen even without being daft) but on the whole, pyrotechnics should be left tot the experts as its just...so dangerous IMO

As it turns out yes, but not because of the fireworks :S Long story short, my gran passed out during the display and there was absolute hell on and loads of people running round like headless chickens so we watched it back for that

Its like those who will video concerts and that isnt it..seems a good idea at the time but really, you are not going to rewatch.

That sounds traumatic! Sorry for bringing it up haha.

I agree though, like nobody has ever said "I'm bored, can I see a video of the firework display you watched last November" and yeh concerts are a funny one too, most of them are recorded professionally! Theres no need for your iPhone copy!

Don't care for fireworks, don't care for bonfire night, definitely do not think the government should ban families from having displays in their gardens though. I pretty much never do anything for bonfire night but when I do I prefer a small event with a few friends at someone's house to a large professional display which you have to pay to get into, get ripped off for food and drink and only see the display from half a mile away

Yeah I go along with everyone else they shouldn't be available for the general public they are rubbish anyway and dangerous and the noise is irritating but professionally they are good

the danger comes from those that sell the unregulated fireworks like those that originate in China. Some of these things are very close to explosives and there is just no need for that. They also have less than wonderful fuse mechanisms, increasing the danger. No members of the public should have access to that stuff.

The issue in the UK is we have Diwali starts tonight, goes on for 5 days at least, then Halloween, then Guy Fawkes 5 Nov so you will have a month of them going off

My horrendous neighbours somehow got a box of professional ones from someone in the local authority last year (it had the council logo on it ffs!), deliberately set them to go off right outside our house at past midnight. They literally put them as close to the fence as they could get them.

If it happens this year they're going to wake up to an elaborate yet crude sketch of a firework scratched into the side of their car.

Yes and bonfire night should be scrapped it's just an excuse for chavs to set things on fire and act reckless.

I love fireworks and have them every year. But because I have a lot of animals around me, horses in the next field, for instance, I only buy the quiet ones. I much prefer them.

I think they are best kept to organised displays and open areas rather in urban streets. The problem with the public having them is that people let them off pretty late and some evenings you will have them going off all night from different gardens. Terrifies my cats which isn't pleasant to watch.

When the kids were little we had a party with them at the bottom of the garden once and even though we thought we were very safe one fell over, shot into the open door, adults having to throw kids out of the way, and ricochet off the walls of the room. It was pretty scary, never again!

I know I shouldn't laugh but this is like something you would see in a cartoon.

When I was a kid my dad tried... Once and only once... To do a display in our garden. One of them was a pinwheel attached to a wooden post... Only the post wasn't hammered far enough into the ground, so when it was lit it went spinning off around the garden - wooden post and all - with all of the neighbourhood kids leaping out of the way screaming.

Good times

Not a fan of them, tbh. I'll never understand why people spend a fortune on them. My neighbour spent £200 pound on them a few years ago and I watched them from the bedroom window - they were pitiful - they didn't last no longer than a few minutes. For that money I'd have expected a whole lot more.

My dogs hate them, so I have to put the music on so they don't freak out.

Ugh...no..not keen at all.
