Default Louis Walsh takes swipe at The Voice - but says that X Factor needs to improve too.

Quote:
Louis Walsh has taken a swipe at The Voice UK this week but confessed that The X Factor needs to go back to basics to win over viewers.

The Irish music mogul has been widely tipped to make a comeback to The X Factor this autumn after leaving the show in 2015 following eleven years behind the judges desk.

While nothing has been confirmed about this year's show, Louis has been mouthing off about the programme and claimed it needs to make some changes.

"It dipped a little bit last year. Simon Cowell needs to bring back the original format," Louis suggested. "He needs to have a panel who are fun, to bring Nicole Scherzinger, me and Dermot O'Leary back. And Sharon Osbourne. She's fun and Simon has no control over her."

He added to the Metro newspaper: "I'd go back if it was fun."

The next twelve months sees The Voice UK join ITV alongside The X Factor but Louis doesn't think Simon Cowell has anything to worry about it.

"No, it's boring. All those red chairs swinging round. And they've never had a hit," he complained. "The X Factor churns out hits - not necessarily every year - but it always produces interesting people."

Of course we all know the real best thing about the earlier series of The X Factor was THAT moment between Sharon Osbourne and a rogue door.

The X Factor will be back on ITV later this year but as yet nothing has been announced regarding judges or hosts.

He's absolutely right on both points tbh. X Factor does need to go back to basics, but the fun element needs to be there as well. I'd love to have Nicole back - and Dermot is a must, but I doubt that Sharon would come back at this stage. As for The Voice, I always want to like it but it always gets too boring too quickly (which will hopefully change when it moves to ITV).

The problem with The X Factor and The Voice is that one show wants goes too mainstream (TXF) while the other one is being alternative for the sake of being alternative sometimes (The Voice)

I know that this is the USA version but you need to see this performance from The Voice USA to see just how much they pride themselves on being alternative.

They basically put her through just because she was a Jazz Singer, even though she butchered a really good song.

Then there was this girl that has potential but picked the wrong song for herself yet has been sent through anyway just because she has potential to be a good Folk Singer.

I honestly think that both shows need to get a diverse line-up instead of The X Factor's "let's be mainstream" or The Voice's "let's be alternative" when really the most exciting line-ups are the more diverse ones where there's Pop, Rock, Indie, Hip-Hop etc, it's just more fun.
