interesting on HLs the talk about they all agreed to give up £30,000 of the prize fund to get Steve a leg, regardless of who wins
what would you say if you were a housemate? i would tell em to **** off , just cos he has a disability he is still just a HM like all the rest and should not be guaranteed almost a third of the prize money, whats that about? after the show if the winner wants to give steve 10-15k or whatever towards it fair enough but not 4 weeks in |

I'd say yes when I was in there, then when I won I'd probably change my mind and give Steve about fifteen grand of it.

Not a chance, I'd be in there for me, myself and I. It's a competition at the end of the day.

I know it may sound harsh or selfish, but I definitely wouldn't give it to him.
It'd be my own money to do whatever I wanted with, so I wouldn't use it to buy his leg. |

No way, he didnt win it so he doesnt deserve it, anyway looking at the size of him he doesnt seem to use his legs that much.

I am sure with "deals" etc, Steve will be given a new leg anyway, without havng to pay a penny.
But I do think it's wrong that a handful of HMs should say "everyone agrees" when it was only the peeople involved in the actual discussion that agreed. And now Shabby (didn't she instigate the discussion) has left anyway, so she won't be giving up anything ... Ben had a point |

Would I hell as like. i'd far rather give it to people I cared about. I certainly wouldn't offer it to someone who voluntarily went to Northern Ireland to defend the policies of the British Government.

I'd say I'd give him 30k in the house, and how much I gave him, if any, would be conditional on our relationship. Probably not though, because it's just a few months, and there are people I've known a lot longer who need the money just as badly.
Your chances of winning are so slim, and winning over a disabled war vet seems so improbable, why not just say yes at the time? Last edited by stonedape; 05-07-2010 at 09:16 PM. |

It's a nice gesture but like you've all said we all have family members and friends who need the money just as much if not more than he does.

Ben has the guts to say what others only think - and he is absolutely right - how dare a handful of HMs make an agreement about money that isn't even theirs without consulting everyone. Talk about grandstanding in front of the public! Creeps.

Not everyone agreed, it wasnt discussed properly, it was more proposed then steam rollered by shabby.
To be frank Steve could probably afford his own legs after the show, he will get appearance money for chat shows, magazine shoots etc, maybe even a movie deal(PMSL) plus he has his medical pension, disability allowance and child tax credits, he will be rolling in it. While it was nice(or in my cynical opinion a good vote winner) for most of the current housemates to decide to do this, they dont speak for any new housemates that are put in later. |

No I would not. Steve is not any other housemates responsibility, and neither is his disability.

As much as i respect Steve, charity begins at home, and i could really use that money to give me a little bit security and help my family out... if i won. So no... i wouldn't share my winnings with any fellow housemate. And i'd try to not give a definite answer in the house if i was asked. I'd end up saying " lets just see how things turn out " or something like that. Steve is gonna end up making a bit of cash when he gets out anyways, through magazines, interviews or whatever.

No.
I'd say when I was in there that it was completely bad form to go around gaining pledges that way. If i were in Steve's position I would be outright offended if I found out about this. Dave has a lot to learn of xianity charity and social justice, it's not all about getting drunk on the blood of his lord. The highest act of charity is to offer someone in need a job Giving charity because you are asked is the lowest. |
