Just found this article ..
Maria Lawson, the X Factor contestant who was controversially booted off the ITV talent show, has signed a record deal. Maria was hailed as a star before Louis Walsh caused an outcry by choosing the Irish Conway Sisters over her. The decision was described by fellow judge Sharon Osbourne as "a travesty" and led to a chorus of boos from the show's studio audience. London-born Maria has signed with Sony BMG subsidiary Phonogenic after four major labels offered her record deals. Her debut album, which she has started to write, is due out in September following the release of a single in June. The star said: "All I promise is great songs, some with elements of pop, some with elements of soft rock, and some with elements of soul. "I can't believe I'm doing this, I can't believe I'm going to LA to work with people I have respected for ages on my own album." Maria, who is midway through the X Factor tour, has performed backing vocals for the likes of Gabrielle and Lemar. The singer, who cancelled her honeymoon to take part in the X Factor, signed a deal at the age of 23 to write music for European acts. |

Found this too ..
7 March 2006 X Factor's Maria signs record deal Maria Lawson, the 'X Factor' favourite who was evicted from the show, has signed a record deal. 30-year-old Lawson and Irish act the Conway Sisters lost out on the public vote in November, but the Conway Sisters were saved from eviction by judge Louis Walsh, who had the casting vote. The London-born singer has signed a deal with Sony BMG subsidiary Phonogenic and has started to write her debut album, which will be released in September. Commenting on the album, Lawson said: "All I promise is great songs, some with elements of pop, some with elements of soft rock, and some with elements of soul." |

Yep she has a recording deal with the Phonogenic branch of Sony BMG, the same label as Natasha Bedingfield.
She's in the USA working on her album now, due for release in September and the first single is expected sometime this July. I think she is steering clear of covers and doing new material only. Her official site is online: www.marialawson.co.uk They have a diary and new pics etc from Maria. I've got loads on my Maria site too www.marialawson.org |

Glad to hear Maria's got a record deal - it sure was a travesty when she was booted so early! |
