Well, they can always abdicate, and give up the life of wealth and extreme privilege.

To be fair to him a lot of those responses about "the magic" and "the people of Britain and the world needing it" seem like stock PR stuff... I sort of suspect Harry is quite skeptical about all of it really. The land owned personally by the family is worth billions anyway. Even if they did do away with monarchy and the palaces and castles, they would still be some of the wealthiest individuals on the planet. |

I wonder why it's always the non-royalists who appear to best understand the royals' innermost thoughts.

Of all the royals, the ones I have the most time for are Diana's kids. I think they have done a lot of good for this country in so many different ways.
If those are his views, he is entitled to express them, and what right have we to question his sincerity given his forthright comments in the past. |

He is also implying that neither his brother nor father want the role. Which does leave you to wonder, if true, whether the UK needs a monarch who doesn't want it?

Ah, headlines taken out of context again.
They are not lining up and biting at the bit for the top job, but they take the role seriously and whoever ends up with the job will do it wholeheartedly and give 100%, just like our present Queen and her father before her. It is no secret that King George and his wife the Queen Mother did not want the job, but as his brother abdicated they took on the role and done a bloody good job of it. The Queen was thrust into the job at a very young age, but she has done an amazing job and has never let this country down. |

Nope the govt is tasked with letting us down, the queen is just a figurehead and at that she does ok... I still say she should pay for her own repairs though.
Shame she didn't offer to put up her neighbours at Grenfell that would've been a nice gesture.
