Brilliant. Same with Pogba and the Heineken bottle. We all like a bit of trash food and drink, but Ronaldo is right kids -Eat Football, Sleep Football, Drink "water" Coco Cola and all that other crap is shoved down our throats at such a young age, plastered all over sporting events. If you wanna be like Ronaldo, drinking Coco Cola and gorging on McDonalds isn't going to do you any favours. Role models being role models

Nothing progressive about it. Hardly the first time the issue of advertising unhealthy foods has been a debate.

i think it's the first time that a single gesture from a sportsman has wiped 4 billion off the value of a company

Yeah, it's a move in the right direction. A huge progressive leap for sports.

Still more inspiring than Kylie Jenner ending racism and Police brutality with her can Coke or Pepsi whatever it was

On the one hand I say good on her for using her "fame" to swindle billions out of the hands of daft people with her makeup and fashion line ... but on the other, why does she think people care about her empty hollow gestures like that one?

If Ronaldo dares bite the hand that feeds, I'll be very impressed.

He could bite OFF the hand that feeds, saute it in butter and eat it for dinner, and they'd still be stroking his cock with the other hand. And he knows it. |

Teams at Euro 2020 could face fines if their players move drinks provided by sponsors at news conferences, as Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba have done in recent days.
On Monday, Portugal captain Ronaldo removed two bottles of Coca-Cola and encouraged people to drink water. The next day, France midfielder Pogba, a practising Muslim, discreetly removed a bottle of Heineken beer. Italy's Manuel Locatelli also replaced Coca-Cola with water on Wednesday. "Uefa has reminded participating teams that partnerships are integral to the delivery of the tournament and to ensuring the development of football across Europe, including for youth and women," tournament organisers said on Thursday. Uefa's Euro 2020 tournament director Martin Kallen said players were contractually obliged "through their federation of the tournament regulations to follow". However, he said he understood the actions of players who, like Pogba, did such things for religious reasons. Team have been reminded of their contractual regulations and Kallen said disciplinary action was "a possibility". Uefa does not intend to directly fine players and any sanctions are at the discretion of the national federations. "We are never fining players directly from the Uefa side, we will do this always through the participating national association and then they could look if they will go further to the player, but we are not going directly for the moment to the player," Kallen said. "We have the regulations signed by the participating federations." ------------------- With 3 weeks still to go, it could get interesting |

I find that completely absurd.
I mean, I don't really like these people preaching to us commoners but to say they can't remove drinks from sponsors but that they "understand the actions of players who, like Pogba, did such things for religious reasons". Nope. It's either they can or they can't. If Pogba can oppose being pictured with bottles of Heineken because of his beliefs then another player can oppose being pictured with bottles of coca-cola because of their beliefs, even if those ones are not religious in nature. |

yeah the concept that a religious belief is somehow more valid than any other belief is quite weird. Ronaldo is a fitness fanatic, it is a sporting event, everyone know that coke contains all sorts of crap and his belief that it's unhealthy is very valid
