Default Marlon and the whole 'pushing the button' thing/let's be fair...

..no matter whether you like Marlon or not or whether it's meant that Ashleigh will now definitely go and she may be your favourite etc...Marlon did nothing wrong...

..it doesn't really matter whether they all agreed that it wouldn't be pushed or whether Chris told Ashleigh to push it or whether she would have...because it's not up to a group to 'agree' something like this, they all went into the house as individual gameplayers and when it comes to something like this, that's what they have to be..I personally wouldn't have but then I'm stupid and wouldn't have wanted an extra week in that house anyway....

..for me his decision was no different from anyone else who decided to take the 'treat' and drain the battery just because that was the last test...and it's not like there would ever be any real thoughts of 'hardship' in the house as a result because the days of chickpeas are long gone and a basic budget still seems to mean cigarettes, alcohol, treats etc..it's just that they might have to do secret tasks or whatever for them...and on BBOTs, wasn't Mark already having a bit of beauty therapy...so that was a tough day...

..I also think the 'aftermath' reaction was awful and no different from the 'pack' thing with Ashleigh when BB showed the three girls what had been said...and was disappointed that Mark joined in so much when he had spoken up (quite rightly) in the other situation...

..I'm not a fan of Marlon at all but the housemates 'turning on him' the way they did was so wrong....

I don't agree it was the same as the others taking treats Ammi as (a) they knew they would have the opportunity to replenish the battery by giving up something peronal and (b) taking the treat would not drain the battery completely, they only needed 1per cent in the battery to pass, I think Marlon is a dead cert to go now next time he is up whereas he might just have floated to the final as he was practically invisible since Toya left.

..yeah, they weren't the ones to actually drain the battery Cherie but they would know BB and that it was never going to be a simple thing with replenishing it either or that the final thing wasn't going to be something like this..?...they're just as clued up as we are to the workings of BB and I think everyone fairly much knew this would happen in some form of test...also I do think it's hypocritical of anyone who chose something for themselves to have condemned Marlon, rather than ..well, we don't agree with what he did but we did something for ourselves as well, so we better just hush up now...

I still think the point is Marlon chose something for himself that affected the whole group and gave nothing back, so they were perfectly entitled to ask him to explain himself.

..if no one had taken a treat and it was a full battery, then would it have all still completely drained on his test or not or did they all contribute...that's something we and they won't know. which is why he can't have the full responsibility..and as always in that house, they didn't really as such ask him to explain, rather than just accuse and all start in together....

Marlon gave up something of his to charge the battery along with others..he has all right to get use of it in any case

Did he what App did he choose? and what did he give up as I haven't seen it, and if that is the case that is even worse as he did exactly what the others did and then went the extra mile to save himself.

video - self benefit - give something up - perhaps it might lead to failure of the task but also maybe not so 50/50

press the button - fail the task- group suffers - 100%

I agree....they've forgotten it's a game. I think the others were miffed because some wanted Ashleigh to have it, and others were pissed that they'd be on a basic budget.

They seem to lack the ability to put themselves in anothers shoes, i'm sure if they were in Marlons shoes, they'd have pushed the button too!

Not true at all on the clip BOTS showed it clearly showed Jale, Chris and Ashleigh all saying they wouldn't press, Christopher asked Ashleigh if she was okay with the decision and all 4 agreed not to press, Marlon said something not sure what, then the timer started and he pressed. When Christopher asked Ashleigh if "she knew what she was doing", it was more or less saying you know you are probably out if you don't press.

Winston seemed to have wanted Ashleigh to have it.

I say fair play to him (Marlon) he knew he'd be out and just wanted an extra week, his game play seems to be to slip under the radar, however i think it's a moo point as he'll be out next week

No, it was the bit when they came back, he said 'what about Ashleigh'

I'll have to rewatch it but it defo came across that he thought that if anyone should've pressed the button, it should've been Ashleigh that's just my opinion.

Christophers line to Ashleigh was not asking is she knew what she was doing, he said
"you know what to do" no need to say that if he's telling her to do what was already agreed so lets not pretend to be deaf here

Have you actually seen the clip shown on BOTS showing Ashleigh, Jale and Chris saying they were not going to press,?

So Christopher didn't and proceeded to try to convince Ashleigh to press it? Why didn't he get a hard time from everyone?

Absolutely in my view no more to be said, a brilliant and very fair post Ammi.
Marlon isn't a favourite of mine either really but all you say above is spot on.

I agree also although I thought it was a little cowardly of Marlon but when it results in Ashleigh being evicted I am very happy. Great post amni

Man give me a break..
This isn't mickey house clubhouse for marlon to impress and help everyone to create a better life for each other, its a flipping game. Play the damn ting.
Those other nominated housemaes are so naive and stupid not to even take the chance of getting off the chopping block.

On the other hand i can understand why winston is upset cause i probably would of if my 'mate' in there done something like that and left us all too starve. So yeah

While I don't necessarily fault Marlon for hitting the button (he knew he was at risk, he did something to save himself for at least another week), I also understand the fallout from the other housemates.

- All the nominated housemates (Marlon included) agreed no-one was going to hit the button and they were going to discuss it first. Clearly they're going to feel betrayed because he went back on his word and didn't even have enough respect for them to give them a chance.
- The other housemates watching saw him betray the others, as well as not giving a second's thought to the shopping task that week.
- The fact that he made the decision without even considering anyone else in the house makes him look selfish and out for himself. The fact that he thought he was in such danger of leaving the house so took himself out of the equation makes him look like a coward.

I know that everyone in BB is out for themselves, but it's a game with other players AND the audience that you can't interact with. It was a stupid decision for him to make because now the people who are in charge of whether or not he gets put up for eviction for the rest of his stay don't feel like they can trust him and feel that he doesn't care about them either. If Marlon doesn't even give them 2 seconds thought, why should they? The audience on the outside didn't like him in the first place (or at least, this is what Marlon presumes based on his boos), so now the audience is pissed they couldn't vote for him and have to watch him for another week (so as soon as he's up again, they're going to pounce), and if they don't like him anyway why is he so desperate to stay in? If he feels like he's in that much risk, he's not going to get much further anyway.

I get the initial decision to save himself and in some ways it's good that he didn't bother pussy-footing around and just did it, but overall I think it was a terrible move on his part and he probably had more chance of staying longer if he hadn't done it. But I guess in some ways that's good, coz I might have to only put up with another week of him sleeping and he can get chucked out next week.
