Faye Brookes is set to begin the new series as favourite to win after she was gambled heavily in the week before the new cohort of celebrities take to the rink.
Six of the twelve new contestants will showcase their skating skills this Sunday and the Coronation Street star is the one they all have to beat according to the pre-launch betting. Brookes, who lays claim to previous experience on the ice from the time her father was an Ice Hockey player, has been backed into 5/2 favourite from 8/1 with BoyleSports in the week before the competition kicks off. Former soap legend turned singer Jason Donovan was chalked up as the original frontrunner for the top prize, but he has now been eased to 11/2 from 9/4. Olympic hurdling hero Colin Jackson on the other hand is seeing his odds head in the right direction as the 9/2 second favourite from 9/1, while the likes of Rebekah Vardy (20/1) and Rufus Hound (40/1) are attracting little support at the wrong end of the early betting. Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “We made Jason Donovan the favourite when the line-up was revealed, but the betting has been shaken up in recent days and Faye Brookes is the contestant with all the momentum. "She has slipped into the top spot at 5/2 from 8/1 over the past week with Colin Jackson also being earmarked as a potential winner.” Quote:
