I feel really sorry for the kid. If he was at the other end of the eating disorders scale and terribly thin and waif-like, people would be more concerned and sympathetic. As it is, he's just a fat person and everyone has a remedy. Everyone but him. If he has been on a course but then put weight back on, maybe the social services should be looking at his mother. Allowing your child to get to that weight is tantamount to abuse.

Yeah definitely, he's so young to be considering that surgery when all that's needed is a bit of commitment and help from his family really

I agree that the blame lies with the parents, if their child has a food addiction then they must adapt to the best way of dealing with it and that is by removing junk food from the house, insisting on exercise and enforcing healthy meals. No camp or surgery will work if the parents keep enabling him.
