With the news that - at last - the Channel 5 era of Big Brother is over, I wanted a reminder of who was in line to present C5's Big Brother before Brian came into the picture? Were there many rumours? Or was it pretty much always going to be him?

I ask because with a new network highly likely to pick up the show, attention will be drawn to it's presenter team. If Emma no longer wanted to continue (which I imagine may be the case), who could fill her shoes? And is it someone who was already in line before?

Any ideas?

Personally, I would love for Emma to stick with it. But somehow I think that is very unlikely. I think she may well have had enough and I also think a new platform (particularly if it is a platform like Netflix) would want to make their own mark with new talent.

Brian was way down the list with people like Pete Townsend (was researching a book so could not do it) and Gary Glitter (he could not do it as he was in Thailand)

Obviously it depends which channel picks it up (if any). If its ITV, i'd hope for Hollie Willoughby.

I kind of want a well-known ex-housemate to host the whole thing, but the only person I can imagine doing it is Kate Lawler from BB3...

I think she'd be good actually.

Vanessa Feltz as a past CBB contestant might also be interesting. Bit of a left field choice.
