LOOK AT THIS... even worse than the ratings....

Inc +1:
Big Brother Live Eviction- 581k (4.9%)
* 16-34: 96k (5.3%)

The Circle: 698k (5.3%)
* 16-34: 243k (16.0%)

Big Brother's 16-34 demos have been awful the last few days. More 16 to 34 year olds watched Channel 5's 8pm Railway documentary compared to Big Brother. BB is no longer skewing well among 16 to 34s and does better among middle aged females.

ITS DEAD. DUSTED.

It's been established, the viewers largely don't want a natural series, they want RTV characters who piss the bed and shag around.

There is no point, it's just died a horrible death.

That 16-34 is much worse than the ratings in general. It lost almost ALL of the young demo as they switch to The Circle.

That sort of young demo is absoloutley shocking to the point of it being unbelievable.

Wow, what a flop now. There is no way to even reverse these, the young viewers have abandoned the show to it's lowest and that sort of young % is probably the lowest amongst most channels across all days and all genres.

Yeah unfortunately for the franchise to continue it’d have to completely repackage itself and be marketed to an entirely new audience, thus becoming an entirely different beast. Big brother as a franchise can thrive, but big brother is well and truly dead

It's not dead, calm down with the extreme language y'all. The reasons that the show is performing poorly are, predominantly;

- Lack of promotion from Channel 5
- Having the show air at 10pm
- No show on Saturday means that retaining viewers is less easy
- There is FIERCE competition from other reality shows at the moment; The Circle, X Factor, Apprentice, Strictly Come Dancing, Bakeoff are all currently airing. IAC is returning soon too (yikes!)

I genuinely believe the fault is with scheduling/marketing rather than the format of the show, which remains popular.

People on Digital Spy were blaming BB14's "low" ratings of 1.4/5m on the 10pm slot too . It's aired at 10pm for many years and the figures never used to be anywhere near as bad as they are now. Also weren't the Saturday shows always the lowest rated episodes each week, if anything the lack of episode this series has probably saved the weekly average from dropping even lower

So how do you explain The Circle in the same time slot getting a 16% share against BB's 5.3% amongst 16-34 year olds?

Both were on at 10pm so no excuse there and as for promotion that's irrelevant seeing as we are now on week 4.

Its dead, last night proved that the eviction and 2 new housemates was the most lack lustre underwhelming BB episode in as long as I can remember it was such a non event.

Time to let it die and revive it in 5 years or so.

Well I’m not defending the ratings bb is pulling, but it did finish at 11:30 while the circle only ended at 11. For plus one viewers that’s half past midnight to watch bb so no wonder the circle pulled it off

I just think The Circle is better tbh the editing, the constant twists and cliff hanger endings really make it an entertaining show.

BB in comparison seems less relevant and doesn't really have a place with younger viewers these days.
It seems the majority of people watching it are hardcore fans who were in that demographic when it started 18 years ago but are now mid 30's and above.

Yes the schedule doesn't help If that is the case then it will be reflected in Mondays official figures when we can see how many people are watching it on catch up/online.

Do we think that when The Circle ends, it will in any way benefit BB?

Lets be honest, I;m not sure what's up with the yoyo effect.

So Tuesday had 598k, Wednesday had 650k, Thursday had 690k and then Friday had 580k.

It is terrible ratings, but it is clear that the 90 minute episodes are the ones doing worse. like I said Thursdays episode was 690k which was average of what it's been getting, but then yesterday plummets.

It's not like BB was doing any better in the 3 days it aired before Circle anyway, it was still getting around 670-700k, so it won't make much difference.

Tomorrow I'll say 600k.

Monday 640k, Tuesday. 590k and then Wednesday back to 680k.

I mean...Jesus Christ. How depressing. In all honesty, the only thing we can hope now is that the show is just allowed to continue as is for the rest of the series and die with the hardcore delighted that for them it was a great series. I still think this is the best channel 5 series civilian wise.

Just watch them try to do something drastic for Wednesday's HL show as that will be the first time it's not facing The Circle.

CBB proved that people are still interested in CBB. People try and stay away from civilian BB.

Ratings for CBB22:

The demand was still there for that, which makes me feel that in the future, someone else will just want CBB and not BB

It needs to be rebranded with the North American format (we've had gameplay in The Circle, and viewers have enjoyed the Game Changer) and make it a clear disassociation from the previous format. Then see how it goes and what people think.

I;m sorry, but i'm starting to think that the gameplay is what turned people away quite frankly.

Me to I think the whole game changer thing is boring and the public vote seems pointless.

The tasks are really well put together and are the best they have been in years they really need to do weekly shopping tasks and scrap the whole big coins ect.

It doesn't really go in favour of getting the casual viewer tuning in either the whole game thing means they would literally have to catch up on previous episodes because its just confusing.

We do not need the American format. If we want to watch the American format we can watch BBUS or BBCAN. BBUK peaked around 5-7. If the show ever returns in the future and wants a chance at success, it needs to look at more closely replicating those seasons than the American ones.

BBs largest audience has always been older than most reality tv shows though and predominantly female. It's not so much that they've lost the 16-30s but they never really had that many of them in the first place compared to something like LI

Making bbuk the american format is a terrible idea lmfao it won’t sit well with its current demographic and I struggle to see it gaining traction with a new one

Shocked that Circle finally surpassed BB. But credit where credit's due - TC is a well edited, well executed and exciting new format - it deserves even much more than that.

I blame it on the 10pm joke. This is an utter rubbish.
Endemol should sue Channel 5 for killing the reputation of their format. The production is good, but C5 is just terrible at giving it the right platform.

It is relevant. Channel 4 have been RIGOROUSLY promoting the show, it's almost unavoidable on Instagram for example. Big Brother had a slight promotion with the bilboard thing in London, but that's basically it.

I find this so, so depressing. BB is superior to CBB massively, and I can't understand why people avoid civilian.

No, no, no. If anything, the gameplay element hasn't gone down massively well with neither the casual viewers nor (to a lesser extent) hardcore fans.
