The Belko Experiment (2016)
9/10 > Battle Royal/Saw type film set in a company building where the employee's had a tracker put in their heads and if they don't kill enough people in a certain time period they flip a switch in which blows their brains out randomly, the ending leaves it open for a sequel which I don't think will happen sadly

Snatched (2017)
9/10 > do love Amy Schumer as I find her very funny, I did find this film very funny but not as much as Trainwreck, Goldie Hawn is great in this

Severance (2006)
8/10 > (re watch) haven't seen this is over 10 years, quite a funny comedy horror, I didn't remember it much so it felt like I watched it for the first time

Intolerable Cruelty (2003)
7/10 > funny in places but not a lot happens really, not sure what else to say about it to be honest other than its good

‘Atlantis: The Lost Empire’ and ‘Atlantis: Milo’s Return’

I loved the art style of the first and the general story but it was a bit too complicated in parts and the stakes never seemed as high as they should have. Still enjoyable though.

The less said about the second one the better

Selma (2014)

It covered the run up to the Selma to Montgomery civil rights march in 1965. How black people in Alabama were brutally attacked and murdered by not only citizens, but police. It shows how Governor Wallace of Alabama kept ordering this, and how Alabama shamefully tried and successfully stopped black people from voting. In the end, Lyndon B Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act and Civil Rights Act and put an end to this.

I teared up at the end (and I rarely tear up at movies)... A truly sensational historical movie, and it makes you grateful of the position we are in today (even though there is a still a lot of work that needs to be done).

God bless you MLK.

10/10

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (2016)
9/10 > found out this was related to Harry Potter which I hate because of this I thought I would hate it but it was great, funny and entertaining, can't wait to watch the sequel

Wall.E (2008)
9/10 > (re watch) still great, it still never quite gets to a 10/10 for me but it comes close but I don't know why

The Cry Of The Owl (2009)
7/10 > slow and steady psychological/horror/thriller with a few curve balls and WTF moments and the last 30 minutes were really good, the cover annoys me as he is holding an axe which he never does in the film, false advertising tut tut

Walled In (2009)
7/10 > there was a good premise here with the being concealed in a small room filling with cement but sadly that was not used since the opening which is a shame, this could have been a saw type film and would have been more interesting if the residents of the building were picked off one by one via being drowned in the small room of cement, quite frustrating how it actually turned out really and again false advertising on the cover as Sam is seen in cement which never happens

"Snowpiercer" - 6/10

The visuals were good and it's very well shot. Some of the acting is good, some is dodgy AF. It can't decide if it's hyper-stylised or "gritty" meaning it sort of flips and flops between Sucker Punch and The Road, with a detour via Hunger Games in terms of visual style. I don't know if that's intentional but I do know that it doesn't quite work (for me). I like the overall concept of the titular Snowpiercer itself in theory, but it's a bit mishandled and the metaphor is a bit on the nose / spoonfed.

Overall, kind of a mess but also sort of compelling. I certainly didn't get bored watching it so I guess worth a watch?

Back to the Future Part 2 on Channel 4 yesterday. It really good and rewatchable. I'd seen it a few weeks ago, but still enjoyed it all the way through.

I heard on the radio earlier they're talking about remaking Back to the Future

Seems not

I don't understand why they keep remaking movies that were already good/loved. Why not remake ones that could be improved?

I heard this the other day . It would be awful and there's just no need... they could easily just make a new film in the franchise without remaking the originals!

It's been long enough now (past the future date in BTTF2) that it could be Marty's offspring discovering the DeLorean (rebuilt somehow, obviously, or plucked from another point in time) under a dust sheet in the garage and going off on some time adventurez. It would probably still be crap but at least it wouldn't be a reboot.

They could even explain that Marty and Doc changing the past is why real 2015 looked nothing like the 2015 shown in the original movies .

Yeah much better idea, like what they did with Jumanji and personally I really enjoyed the new one without feeling angry for Robin Williams or the original

Yeah, I was going to suggest a next-generation type sequel rather than a remake, might work.

I assume in the remake, it would be set in, say 2020, and they'd go back to 1990 or something...

I'd guess the "past" would be the mid-80's (because it's culturally popular) and the future would then probably be around 2055.

If they did a trilogy the 3rd one would still have to be set in the old west

Inglorious Basterds I think, was the only Tarantino movie I'd not properly seen so I gave it a watch.

War films aint my thing especially subtitled BUT I really enjoyed this, that ending scene in the movie theatre where the "ghost" of that woman comes on the screen and tells Hitler and co they're gonna die WHEW!! Laughing through the flames. Loved it.

I was watching a discussion about this on a Youtube show I watch, and one of the people made a point I agree with - a reboot probably wouldn't be terrible, but it would just be okay (kinda like recent Star Wars) and would rely on nostalgia, not having the magic the original captured. So why do it?

That's true of most reboots to be honest. If you pretend the original didn't exist, they're usually perfectly decent / watchable films... but if you compare them to the original they don't measure up so why bother? I mean, for example, the "Robocop" remake is a perfectly decent PG-13 action movie... but it isn't Robocop, is it.

So back to where the present was in the original? That could be really interesting..but very confusing too
