I don't really follow USApolitics, but from what I have sene, their 'left' is basically our Tories (or even further right than them a hell of a lot) So moving futher left than the tories is not a bad thing really

The democrats are the opposition, they have to oppose what the right are doing, so it’s only a natural occurrence that the further right the republicans are going, the further left the democrats have to go, you can’t win by playing softball, you have to actually be the complete opposite to what you’re going up against, it’s a non story.

I'd have thought you'd play to the middle ground if the other side is moving further to the extremes. Otherwise (in a two-party system) a lot of the public in the political middle don't feel their views are represented.

I don't know a lot about US politics but the Democrats might think they can put anyone up against Trump, and they will still win - so take the chance to nominate a radical. That might not work out for them though.

they are moving further left than they are traditionally known for, that is a fact. Some of the things they have come out with will not win the centre ground. At the present moment, if Trump is not removed from power, I don't think they stand a chance of winning

Its a good move. Biden is far too centrist to win the vote and without Obama at his side is viewed as a centrist corporate democrat meanwhile we have Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren doing very well courting the progressive wing of the party. Biden has already moved to the left on abortion so to counter the frankly barbaric new abortion laws alone the party must move left.

i don't know why people want to be right wing or far right so badly

i'm myself more left and i also like the green parties recently a lot more (because of the climate which is important)

so yeah my hope for around the world is green parties to do well everywhere, and maybe then we can change climate for the good again
