He finds five stabbings a disaster?
What's he doing about the hundreds of shootings on his own soil? Hypocrite. |

Yeah I know what you mean, I don't really know what the solution is here or what people are expecting him to do to make it stop. London is a big city and there's always gonna be crime... maybe it has risen but it's not because of Khan

I don't realy see what Khan could do, given police budgets are being continually cut.

he may not be in charge of the police budget, but he can definitely influence policing policy. I remember Boris ordered up a water cannon in his time, so Khan does have to take some responsibility.

I cannot see a water cannon being effective for random stabbings rather than..dare I say 'crowd control'
Like, without randomly stopping and searching loads and loads of people, I really don't see how this could possibly be tackled? And stop and search has problems of its own, and certainly would not catch them all either.

A water cannon that was advised against, never used then sold as scrap for small fraction of what it cost

What evidence is there available that Khan has been proactive in trying to sort out London's violence issues. Everyone seems to be shouting down anyone that speaks out against him, but what possible basis do people have for doing that?

Good move that one. I think not. There's been several more cuts made since those times too. Jump in without thinking Trump, seems to think our Mayors are as powerful as elected State mayor's in the USA. Which isn't the case. Khan has said more resources are needed, the Police and he are working together continuously on this growing problem. Not only in London either is it a problem. I'm not keen on Khan but he is limited as to resources or even powers. The Government should be there right in the mix sorting this out, with both the Mayor and the police. As for Katie Hopkins, it is time that hate filled bigot just crawled away and spout her hate speech in more private settings. Why any media still give that rotten minded Woman space publicly amazes me. We may have a selected list of devolved powers across the UK. Mayors in place too. However the elected government is STILL the UK government overall and it needs to be involved to bring in more resources and powers re-new laws if necessary, to help combat this awful rise of knife crime. As well as the terrorists threat remaining too. Quite frankly though, this USA President should be politely told, if it's possible, to really butt out and not inflame tensions in our politics or cities. |

[QUOTE=LeatherTrumpet;10596540]i dont recall you saying that when Obama came over to campaign for remain?
I guess its because you liked him...[/QUO You can guess all you want LT, I don't care a jot what you think of me. In fact I long ago chose to avoid you at all costs. I don't recall welcoming him either. However I'll qualify. Even though it's a waste of time with you. We were voting on staying of leaving the EU. The USA would then be a major player as to new and needed trading deals. So we needed to hear the likelihood of any deals. That's a policy issue not a personal one. This President is helping fuel hate against an elected individual in our Country. Obama never did that. You can guess all you like, usually as ever wrong on myself, However here's a guess of my own, just as if this was Farage as London Mayor, with this President getting at him. I'll now guess your line would be a possible different one. A world of a difference in the scenarios. Obama, the EU referendum and trade. To a major World leader joining in with fuelling more hate filled rhetoric in another Nation. Where hate filled speech needs to be discouraged not heightened publicly.
