It’s like they see the polls and purposely do the opposite of what the public want to spite us

Weird flip-flopping in the votes. Can only imagine the greasy, self-serving half-promises being made behind the scenes to turn people over from Stewart to Javid. If you can change your mind overnight why are you even voting?

They didn't want two old Etonians going head to head, I think they want Gove as he has a working class background so the Tories appeal to the masses or something...

Seems like Rory is a pretty bad loser too listening to his interview after the result

It's interesting there's no clear block vote move either from those who supported Raab or those who left Stewart. I think a lot of things Rory has said recently have crossed the line from being a maverick contender to being a bit deluded and also a bit too destructive. He almost sounded like a Labour MP at times last night

For a brief moment in this election.
Although I was like others certain Johnson was going to unbelievably end up PM of the, ( at present anyway), UK. With Rory in the mix, I thought the Conservatives might just be starting to look forward. To dismiss the old failed guard and look at fresh fields. Clearly not. On the backbenches, hopefully Rory wields the same problems for Johnson, that Johnson created for Theresa May. Last edited by joeysteele; 19-06-2019 at 06:11 PM. |

Rory great as ever on Peston tonight.
Very fair, realised he hadn't performed at his best in the BBC programme. His points all valid. A big loss but he wouldn't have won this time anyway. He re-stated he wouldn't serve in a Johnson cabinet. I find that commendable. On the backbenches, he could actually be one of the real power brokers. I hold great respect for Rory. Clearly integrity this time, is a loser as to the Conservative party. Last edited by joeysteele; 19-06-2019 at 11:00 PM. |

I mean, when you look at the past decade, the Tory party has been an absolute shambles. They had one year of having a majority in parliament, and in that one year, they damaged the country beyond repair. I can't wait to see them out of power.

This. Can you imagine Trump and Boris together ... 2 idiots who shouldn't be allowed out on their own most of the time. Rubbing their fat hands together in glee. If Spitting Image was still on our screens they'd have a field day with the pair of those idiots. Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

Great post Kate. Sadly fully reflective too in a way of a Party actually in government at the time electing the worst possible candidate, insulting the vast majority of the UK possibly, who have found that man's created clown's actions, irritating, insulting and offensive. One can hope, and I for one do, that this divisive, false, backstabbing turncoat is brought down and soon, by his brexit deceit and the same problems that hounded his predecessor. If any Conservative really believes, this self styled buffoon will bring back Lib Dem or Labour voters. They are very badly deluded. The only votes he could gain are the more extreme elements of the Brexit party. It won't be enough to get him an election win. If he sees any bounce in polling once leader. He'd do well to remember the imaginary bounce the polls said were there for Theresa May. All having her 14% to over 20% ahead of Labour. Which in polling day turned out to be around only 2% July is a sad time for the whole of the UK, that this divisive and untrustworthy as to his word figure, is to be foisted on all the UK by a party and government, who should have been determined to put in place someone to unite the Nation not further likely divide it. Says everything about the present Conservative party. How I now wish Labour would now guarantee a further referendum. I was against it but I have come to the view it would be desirable after the farce and this hardluner now being elected. I also wish Labour would promise to look at proportional representation for elections too. Anyway great post from you Kate. I guess we can hope the dangerous element across the Atlantic may get chucked out next year too. Such a strong and good opportunity to show they really cared about the whole of the UK, by the present Conservative party, has been trashed completely. They've chosen to likely further divide than unite. That is desperately sad at this time. Also however one of the strongest irresponsible and incompetent choices ever as leader and PM. |
