Back Leon, His Mum Asks Scotland
Quote:
Back Leon, His Mum Asks Scotland LEON'S mum has claimed the nation should get behind her boy - because he is the underdog.
Wendy Jackson said that his rivals for the £1million recording contract are all trained or professional performers - but her boy is self-taught.
Wendy added: "He's gone from singing karaoke in January to this - not many people can say that. And the other people in the competition all have singing backgrounds."
Wendy said brother and sister act Same Difference already have a singing career, while bookies' favourite Rhydian is a classically trained baritone.
Proud Wendy says that since Leon first sang in January this year, he has got by with nothing but hard work and talent.
Leon had only ever sung secretly to himself in his bedroom until he plucked up the courage to sing karaoke in a local pub during his gap year between Whitburn Academy and going to university.
Wendy, a receptionist at a GP's practice in Bathgate, West Lothian, has been leading the campaign to get Scotland behind Leon.
She said: "He's already done an amazing thing.
"I'm so proud of him - who wouldn't be? "I know he's finding it a tough schedule, but he's enjoying himself.
"He's 100 per cent committed to everything that he does."
She added: "I don't really get nervous during the main show - it's a joy to watch him because he has got better and better every week.
"I only get nervous during the results."
