Because you and Oliver are both doing the same boring, daft "trick" of trying to deflect the thread onto something completely unrelated, so I directed my response at both of you.

Because opening the door to dehumanising anyone at all leads to a snowball effect where all sorts of things are justified. I feel like I've been quite clear on that so I don't really feel the need to justify it further to those who don't "get it". I know a lot of people don't get it. But I also know they don't want to "get it" so there's little point trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole all day.

Twitter is relevant to this thread because Twitter - like TiBB - is a social media platform. It is looking at banning dehumanisation as hate speech. I hope TiBB follows suit. That is perfectly relevant and I again can't say it any more clearly.

"Anton off Love Island getting non-serious death threats on another random thread" has absolutely nothing at all to do with this thread... it's just a ham-fisted attempt to redirect the conversation onto something else, and that seems to be happening constantly in threads lately. Trump threads full of "Yeah well what about CORBYN!", or threads about racist Trump tweets full of "Yeah well there IS a problem at the border!".

And now I'm not supposed to comment on this thread because you think I should be over in the Love Island subforum kicking off at kids being over dramatic about a contestant? No Parm, you don't get to tell me where and when I should be posting, or what I should be posting about.

I get all that...and I did see your concern for the 2 posters when you posted...

Which is why I posted the other thread for you.... so you could advise the young ones a lot better than me jumping in with my size nines....but pop off.

Hopefully the families of victims can finally get some justice.

I have very little feelings towards him, him and his brother mean nothing to me. If bringing him to justice brings even a little bit of solace to the families then that is the only positive thing

I'm sure there are some members of the family wishing these men a slow and painful death....unfortunately they won't get the justice they want.

That won't bring their loved ones back though. I've just watched our local news in Manchester and two families were on, one said it won't change anything whether he lives, dies or is brought to justice as his wife will still be dead, the other guy said to get some semblance of justice will not make him feel better per se but will give his family a small sense of relief and closure

Wise words.

Dare I say he has been dehumanised in the first families response.

And even some people who didn't lose anyone. My first husband died as a direct result of an attack by Islamic terrorists. And I'm supposed to worry about them being dehumanised??

I wonder whether people's attitudes might change if their own family was affected. I wonder if the focus then would be on the welfare of the murderer.

Oh, I thought it was common knowledge. He was wounded in Afghan. Eight years ago now.
