I suppose it's best to research a breed but I'd not be put off by size alone. Unless space at home is an issue

Our labs were proper lazy ****s, just lay around all day, but once their leader was on, they wanted to go for miles!

Atm we look after our neighbours' cockerpoo and must say although too small for our liking he is a lovely little thing. A bit too inquisitive and barky but so affectionate, wants cuddles all the time.

They say greyhounds are happy sleeping all day which is surprising for a racing dog. But they are happy with fairly little exercise and are meant to be very easy to look after

Lovely dogs, they’ve got a bad reputation cause they’re big and look ‘mean’, but they’re the most loving, cwtchy dogs I’ve ever had, our one who passed a few years ago used to let the kids in the family lay all over her, she was a gentle giant

He was a great dog....very dopey and just wanted constant strokes. Again with the breed issues though, bigger dogs used to go for him all the time, because of the ridge on his back, other dogs think their hackles are up and so get aggressive.

Always golden ones. We only had one at a time. Had a mongrel..think it was jack russel crosssed with something (was all black) at the same time..she was bloody amazing. So full of life until she got bladder cancer. Oddly, my mum and dad only got her because they went to see what dogs there were and got told that if she was not taken that day, She was going to be put down as she had been there too long (wonder if they are still allowed to do that..) so they took her straight away. Was called Lucky. Lab at that point was Cindy. We had a Sandy too later.

Could talk forever about dogs we had as kids like..

Yes, both labs were greedy as ****, but the mongrel was a faster eater and used to try and nick Cindys food after she had hers

My aunts dogs are the same, both so laid back and love playing with kids. I'd trust them over my dog to be honest and shes a tiny little thing

Exactly.
We were shocked when some people would cross the road not to walk past our mastiff
You couldn't ask for a gentler dog and yet people were intimidated by his size and face

What next, let’s get paedos to volunteer to help abused children? What a terrible idea. She shouldn’t be anywhere near dogs/training them

...yeah I can understand your feelings completely, Amy...she’s not someone who should have care for any animal atm...I don’t know if that could ever change if she were to experience the damage her own behaviour can cause by working with damaged dogs...?...whether it could be something that could turn around her mindset completely...while obviously working alongside staff and being supervised etc...

I have a black lab called duke, he is amazing, everyone thinks their dog is the best dog ever but he literally is
He's a member of the family, which is why this seems so alien to me that she would attack her dog like that

I think the issue is that from that video, I don't believe for a second that her behaviour is down to believing that's an acceptable way to treat or train a dog. The way she glares at it, the agitated way she grabs it and shouts at it... That's an anger control problem. That's what she urgently needs to address, not specifically her attitude towards animals. I *strongly* suspect she would be similarly aggressive with humans if she thought she could get away with it.

We had a rottie about ten years ago but we got him when he was fairly old and only had him a year before he sadly died.

He wouldnt harm a fly he was so loving and caring and was grateful for the company after getting nothing from his previous owners, I wish we could have had more years with him
