Well, they’ve banned beef. Not specifically burgers. The world hasn’t gone mad parm, but if we dont do something soon then there won’t even be a world to go mad.

People are being led down the garden path on the impact that such things have, and the every little helps argument is complete tosh
Here we are leaving the EU likely without a trade deal with our nearest neighbours and setting up trade deals with countries on the other side of the world. That has a huge impact on the environment and not a single **** is being given. |

All of it - all of our efforts here, the farming industry, air travel - is for nowt if the developing nations where more than half of the global population lives doesn't sort out their industrial emissions. Which is very unlikely to happen in time. just be thankful that the **** won't REALLY start to hit the fan within our lifetimes.

Good for 'em, I'd say! If the uni is gonna throw business their way for a meaningless gesture, power to them.

Reducing beef production isn’t a meaningless gesture?

Oh yeah, I forgot one university ending their beef sales will save the world.
Beef production in the West is meaningless compared to the pollution in third world/developing nations. |

And just because beef production is less significant in comparison to pollution elsewhere, doesn’t mean that’s something that doesn’t have to change. Every little step towards saving the environment helps - doesn’t matter if it’s one person using refillable cups or a whole university cutting out beef. They would have been better banning prawns...they have a larger carbon footprint than beef. |

That's just completely incorrect, and it's brainwashing Saving the environment will only come from getting countries to cut back on their industrial emissions. Nothing else will make a difference. Nothing else will save the planet Personally, i think it will be self regulating. As the planet has more areas that become uninhabitable through climate change, the population will be killed off and therefore pollute less Last edited by bitontheslide; 13-08-2019 at 12:26 PM. |

It’s not gonna ‘save’ the planet as such, no, but it’s definitley going to prolong the window of time we have before it’s too late to save anything.
