Amy Winehouse suffered a new blow yesterday after learning she must pay her husband's £300,000 legal aid bill.

The troubled star was gutted when Blake Fielder-Civil's plea for costs was rejected.

It means she must fund his fight against charges that he tried to fix a trial.

The final legal bill could spiral up to £500,000.

Amy's money woes have sparked a fresh war of words between the couple's parents.

Blake's mum Georgette Fielder-Civil, 42, has claimed Amy is taking more drugs than ever and neglecting her son, who is on remand in prison.

She said Amy has only been to visit him a couple of times in Pentonville jail, North London.

But Amy's taxi driver dad Mitch hit back last night, saying: "Amy is going to pay for his legal team and that will be a lot of money.

"I don't see how anyone can say she's not doing anything for him.

"His mother hasn't been forthcoming with an offer to put her hand in her pocket, so maybe she should keep her opinions to herself."

He added: "Blake has been doing better. He has got character and has shown maturity while he's been away and I like that. I think that's good.

"But, by the same token, his problems were there long before he met Amy.

"Blake's mother seems to want to blame the whole world - and everyone apart from herself."

Mitch, 57, revealed that one of his daughter's biggest problems is that she just doesn't like herself at the moment.

He said: "It's clear there are issues of self-image, self-loathing. We were recently looking at photos of her five years ago, when she was curvy, and she said, 'I look really happy there'. I said, 'Aren't you happy now, darling?' And she said, 'I've been happier'. There was a realisation there. I know the real problem is that she's depressed about Blake being in prison."

Mitch also spoke of his fears over Amy's new friendship with junkie rocker Pete Doherty.

In an interview with Grazia magazine, he said: "I do worry about her being around people like him.

"He's a scumbag. I flipped when I saw him sitting with Amy backstage at her Brixton gig. That night I went crazy.

My wife thought I was going to have a heart attack. I was apoplectic."

Concerns for Amy, 24, have grown after she was pictured wandering around London at dawn in her underwear.

Yesterday's Mirror showed her sipping cocktails in a bar at 6am.

Fielder-Civil, 25, is in custody on charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice in relation to an assault case.
