Yesterday
I really enjoyed it, Himesh Patel is really funny in a deadpan kind of a way which I always find more funny, great to hear all the Beatles tracks aswell. It's a proper feel good film 8/10

"Secrets and Lies" (Mike Leigh 1996) Saw this for the first time on Friday. One of the best British films I've ever seen.
Brenda Blethyn puts in a masterclass of acting. Timothy Spall is superb too. If you've never seen this film then I highly recommend it, you'll come back on here to thank me. 10/10 "The Iron Giant" (1999) I saw this for the first time last night. Never even knew of it until last week. A must see. 9 and half out of 10 |

I finally watched The Thing (1982)
A cult classic and often in the lists of best horror movies. Gotta say, it wasn't crap, but it didn't do much for me. 7/10 Overrated |

Dark Phoenix - Not a massive X Men fan but it wasn't too bad, I prefer them prequel ones to the originals (but Logan was the best of all imo) 6.5/10

Jessica Meuse was robbed.

Halloween (1978) - As a big fan of Horror stuff, I was really looking forward to seeing what one of the most popular Slasher Horror Movies had to offer, and I've got to say that I was disappointed. I get that the Film couldn't do everything that modern Horror Films can (which as a fan of the first Psycho, the first Friday The 13th, and most installments of A Nightmare On Elm Street) I can accept that the laws at the time couldn't permit Halloween to show graphic violence (which is normally expected to some degree in modern Horror Movies) but the Film felt more like a Thriller than a Horror Film imo, Michael Myers is barely shown to do anything and hardly kills anybody in the Movie, and Jaime Lee Curtis's character is largely redundant until near the end of the Film, and tbh I didn't really get an eerie vibe from the Film (again something to fall back on in the Horror genre if all else fails) and the pacing was quite slow even by Horror standards, I mean how long did it take to get to night time? Score - 4/10
I didn't think that all of it was bad tbf, it had one jumpy death scene imo, and Jaime Lee Curtis gives out a decent acting performance imo, but that is kinda where it ends for me, a huge disappointment.

Halloween (2018) - surprisingly enjoyable. Didn’t expect it to be but I very much enjoyed it! Some very tense scenes and good jump-scares but sadly just doesn’t match the “charm” (for want of a much better word) of the original.
7.5/10. |
