Default It's that dreaded week...

The first week of September, which for those of us that work at a school means back to work. For those that are used to their children being at school is a week they all look forward to after a stressful summer holiday. But for those of us that have children starting school whether it be primary or high school it turns us into emotional wrecks

My daughter starts school on Wednesday and I keep crying. It's silly because she is so excited about it, but because of my job I will now only get to see her for about half an hour before she goes to bed and the weekends and Im really going to miss her and I just wonder whether those years I had I took for granted...

This song keeps going around in my head

I can't believe how sad its made me that she is starting school so my heart goes out to everyone else feeling the same way this week

Aw Jake... The time you spend with her will be more special now and you'll get to hear all about her new friends and experiences. Weekends will be when you make your family memories

Its also the time of year where traffic gets stupid in a morning after an easy couple of summer months

...hawwww, this is the start of something amazing in her life...she’s going to meet so many new little people...and some of those people, Jake...may become life long friends, some of the most important and treasured people in her life......you’re not losing her..you’re watching her grow and expand in being the beautiful young lady that you’ve such a part of nurturing...awww Jake..every first of this type of change is going to be emotional...but it’s also going to be filled with such beautiful moments that you’re still to meet...I’m so looking forward to hearing her first Christmas school play.....

The behaviour unit is having a staggered return, so I'm not back til Wednesday, and no full days until next week. I'd rather just get back into it tbh, half days are somehow more tiring than full days

oh Jakey our kids are so much more resilient than we are, and please be happy that she was excited to start, I've seen kids hanging on to lampposts on first days, and it is super stressful for parents, she will make loads of new friends and have many positive experiences!

Maybe you could consider a change of job? people move about in jobs all the time now though I appreciate you probably have job security where you are x The nice thing about working in a school is that it ties in nicely with her holidays and that 6 weeks will fly, and it will be half term before you know it!

Yeah on her play days she had there she was actually helping some of the kids who were afraid to go in to go in, she had a beaming smile and said hello to the teacher straight away and loved it. So I know she is gonna love school and make a lot of friends with the confidence I saw in her that day. It's just sad to not get to see her so much anymore but i will get used to it and yeah that's the fab thing about working at a school ill get the same holidays

Awh Jake I honestly think that no matter how much time you spent with your daughter (even if you were with her for every second of every day) you'd still feel the way you feel now, like you mightve taken the time for granted. But you'll still see her everyday (if not for a short time), weekends, and holidays/breaks (the next six weeks will FLY, leading you up to that week break). I'm not a parent but I'm sure in time (in weeks, I'd imagine) you'll find that you can cope not seeing her as much, and you'll just cherish those times you do spend with her even more. It's fantastic she's excited for it, kids can struggle with going to school for years, you can rest assured she'll be enjoying herself

Its easy to say that after you have left school and benefited from the long school hols

As a full time working mum, the long school hols are a logistical nightmare childcare wise but the kids need breaks otherwise what they learn is not retained.

...it’s a bit like how we all feel about ToYSoldier...did we take his time for granted when he wasn’t back studying...did we appreciate him enough...?..we know though, that its all a very exciting and wonderful time for him...as it is for little Miss Strictly as well...

I'd be happy when my kids go back to school so I can go back to my normal day, then again I detest most children. Yuck.

I wish I could've had your Daughter's attitude when I went to School Shakeyjake.

Good luck though, hopefully she'll make friends and enjoy herself.

...(...you’re not the only parent left in a heap of crying in the playground, while their child is totally fine and happy with their classmates...you’re one of quite a big club......)...she was absolutely fine because of the parent you’ve been, Jake and the confidence you’ve given her.....
