A bit of hope of a deal being possible.
I'd hope for probable over possible but if progress is at last being made and Johnson is now willing to draw back on any sticky issues. That will be welcome. |

If it's accepted by the EU no doubt hardline tories will hate it and farage obv...
I will be VERY interested to see what the compromises are, if it's not protecting rights, regulation, protections and the GFA they can all foff!!

Farage will oppose anything that can potentially save us from No Deal. Russia wants us to crash out of the EU and Farage has already shown us all that he's on Team Putin.

Anything that is left which leaves a possible veto in any way by the DUP, would not satisfy me.
However any agreement has to be looked at. I just can't see what the Republic of Ireland could move on. Theirs were reasonable expectations. The move has to be from Johnson's more harder extreme positioning. |

hhhmmm they're all still Politicians though at the end of the day though Joey. I've really liked how well Leo has handled things so far aswell but the behind closed doors and secrecy afterwards is worrying

I just can't see him signing up to anything he's insisted is the very basics as to checks and any exclusion of others to accommodate the DUP. I'm hoping he won't anyway. |

Why has this become a "megathread" for all things Tory or Brexit?
Why can't new news items have their own threads? |

The issue is in bluff calling I think. No deal Brexit would actually be economically extremely damaging for Ireland... Even without the issue concerning Borders, the economy in Ireland is simply linked to the UK economy in more ways than any other EU country. Of course its nothing like as bad as it will be for the UK itself, but the hit is inevitable more than it is for most, and while I believe the EU would try to mitigate many of those things, it would still be felt. Realistically, the Irish government wants to avoid no deal if at all possible.
