It's quite difficult because on the one hand, if you want radical change you have to do somewhat radical things. Handing out leaflets and doing pop up stands round the country isn't going to save the planet.
But this group often seem to be more style than substance. They can grab your attention but you don't quite know what they want you or the governments to do.

They need to focus more on solutions and direct meetings etc with politicians and in the media rather than these large demonstrations and protests that seems to somehow go as far to put people often wanting to save the planet

You could research that yourself... there have been many many speeches not only by Greta that pinpoint specific areas that require immediate intervention. It's not up to the public to devise a global governmental response is it?

It puts people off wanting to save the planet?.. Is that what you said there, I couldn't quite believe my eyes.

So what exactly do people want to do ? are you prepared to give up the lifestyles you have now to save us,or is it left for just some to do ? I think we can ALL do our bit, but people will not give up thier heating, cars, laptops, phones, Tvs , holidays and game consoles.who hand on heart is prepared to do that, actions speak louder than words,we can all protest about how awful things are , but people need to do something, we are ALL guilty.

Trust me, the people advocating all this won't be giving up their lifestyles.

Do as I say, not as I do. That's their message.

Indeed, and I agree with you.

Also since I clearly stated, were I anywhere where they were, I'd actually join in supporting their protests or campaign.

That in effect just about blows the criticism of myself out the window.

But... again... the problem isn't really holidays/TV's etc per se. It's the SOURCE of the power. That takes the people in control, with the money and the resources to ACTIVELY take steps to make the necessary changes.

Bleating about "This smartphone generation" is ridiculous and a piss poor counter-argument.

So there is no point in recycling either then? What’s the smartphone generation every one from 9 to 90 has one now more or less

Who said that?

Recycling is only possible because the people who can actually make that possible did so.

You alone and your neighbour reusing glass bottles at home won't have made much difference, but the actual manufacture of recyclable/re-useable materials and setting up the industries to recycle them.

That's the point. The people in power and with the resources need to open their eyes and act to make change, otherwise Jimmy giving up his xbox and smartphone is utterly pointless.

I think it needs input from everyone, not just one side, I completely agree that so much more could be done by companies but the public have to be invested as well, and Ex Reb just aren’t garnering public support in the way they could

Of course theres a point, we are doing our bit but it's never going to be enough without industry wide change, laws, protections and regulations... none of which many countries seem inclined to do.

For years the advice has been recycle, be energy efficient, go green, cut down waste, don't waste water, reduce emissions.
Is it any wonder that people who have done their best in yhe modern day are asking their respective governments ' what are YOU doing?! '

Oh definitely. I just felt Kaz's approach was from entirely the wrong perspective.

Exactly this.

A lot of individual households have been doing "their bit" for a long time now. It goes nowhere without the governments doing "their bit" which is a far more substantial part of the battle.

Made even harder when you've got people like Trump in charge directing money to utterly pointless brick walls.

It's exasperation. . What's left but protest?
There have been campaigns, awareness raised, petitions, expert analysis, scientific evidence, celebrity endorsement, televised appeals for years and years and years... This is what's left as all that has failed to make any qualitative change in the way the issue is addressed globally.

It's always other peoples faults ,it's not , it's down to us all, from big companies to the small individual, no good shouting the odds, that wont save anyone.
