...although there will obviously be the rivalry, I felt a bond../..closeness between the ladies that I havenít really seen on a USA first show...I donít know if itís that theyíre all more aware of each other in a smaller drag circuit...?..it feels lovely though, very touching.....

Episode one rankings:

Spoiler:

The Vivienne (queens who have so much work done that they start to resemble Polar Express-esque animated versions of themselves )
Sum Ting Wong
Vinegar Strokes
(best entrance line of all time? I'm saying yes)
Cheryl Hole
Divina De Campo
Crystal
Blu Hydrangea
(great gowns, beautiful gowns)
Scaredy Kat
Maga Chipz
(this is canon now)
Gothy Kendoll (I'd say something snotty like "I could have done a better Leicester look and I've never even performed in drag", but there's quite literally a queen this season who has never performed in drag and she did better than Gothy, so it's a moot point)

Spoiler:

I thought it was a decent opener, it had teething problems but that was to be expected I suppose.

Scaredy Kat, The Vivienne and Divina are my initial favourites off the bat. Nobody I actually dislike in the cast as of yet but I can see Baga becoming grating as the weeks go on.

My main issue really was the judging though, I thought they really missed the mark this week. Kat, Blu and Sum Ting shouldíve been top three I thought with Kat being the winner of the week. I was astonished that Baga was top three, I thought she wouldíve been bottom for those looks, they were not good. Canít say I was blown away by The Vivienne either in regards to the challenge, I was thinking she was bottom three when she wasnít announced safe.

LOVED Alan and Andrew on the panel though so all is forgiven!

just rewatched it again this morning and my thoughts are..

Spoiler:

The Vivienne - I love her humour and her runways would've been perfect if she'd have worn a heel.. there's something so anti-climatic about a flat shoe on the runway. Either way shes still my fave so far, her one liners throughout had me screaming.

Baga Chipz - classic british drag humour, I wasnt blown away by her looks but i'm definitely excited to see what else she can bring.

Divina Decampo - I saw a lot of hype around her before the show but I was a little disappointed, her runways were just alright imo and I get a lowkey bitchy vibe from her, I noticed her give side-eye to a couple of girls.

Blu Hydrangea - Theres something really creative about her, of all the queens I think she most resembles a typical queen from the US version. Definitely one to watch. Although I noticed she has a short neck and often looks squished which makes her a bit top-heavy.

Gothy Kendoll - oh lord, I know she has a reputation of being a pill popper.. maybe all the MD has gone to her head because she was a nervous mess. Truly deserved to go home for that lip-sync.. when the dress fell down I just knew it was over.

Scaredy Kat - The biggest surprise for me, I wasn't expecting too much from her but I really liked both her looks, especially the forest nymph looking one. Her makeup is a little... unique? but idk maybe she can make it work.

Vinegar Strokes - why does she give me Alison Hammond vibes I liked her personality wise but her runways were awful.. the thames one was just crap and the yellow one looked like some african queen not queen liz

Sum Ting Wong - another one that surprised me! I screamed when she dressed as the bullring statue very random but it worked so fair enough! Her stamp outfit was great too. Although I disagree with people saying she shouldve won, it was good but not THAT good.

Crystal - meh.. I feel like shes the token 'lets get an american sounding girl on too to attract the US audience' girl. Her looks were a bit messy and i'm not a fan of the body hair. Also she does this thing with her mouth on the runway where she shows her bottom teeth and its a bit weird.

Cheryl Hole - erm.. for the hype around her she really didnt deliver. The essex look was her best and even that was below average. I see her being a bit of an Alexis Michelle type throughout the competition.

my ranking so far would be..
1. The Vivienne
2. Scaredy Kat
3. Blu Hydrangea
4. Baga Chipz
5. Sum Ting Wong
6. Vinegar Strokes
7. Divina DeCampo
8. Crystal
9. Cheryl Hole
10. Gothy Kendoll

No Vivienne, Pete Burns didn't wear flats. In fact he actively hated them. My only gripe for Viv.

Sum Ting Wong was the winner for me this week, even though I thought nothing of her in the meet the queens.

Vinegar had the best workroom intro ever.

Baga Chipz is what she is.

Cheryl can just bugger off already. Can't stand the cow. Let her meet the real Cheryl then get this bitch off the show!!!

Don't care about the rest.

Honestly, I had mixed feelings upon finishing the first episode. It was laugh out loud funny throughout, but it somehow felt less punchy than the US version (the lip-sync was also cringe-worthy and almost proved Charlie Hides right). I compared it to Britain's Next Top Model as I enjoyed it, but it just felt a bit too different to the original (despite all the similarities). Like, it was just really strange to watch the show I fell in love with so close to home - it didn't feel right at first.

After watching the first episode again, I adored it. When you take away the expectations and the comparisons to the US version - it really does work in its own right. The British humour, cultural references, pure grittiness of it all - really enjoyable. I think it's going to be hard for the British queens to live up the standards American queens have created, but a lot of them pleasantly surprised me. There's a lot of talent in the mix, but the best part are the queen's personalities. You can tell they're so excited and happy to be there and it's really refreshing and humbling.

In terms of my current ranking:

Baga Chipz (honestly not bothered whether she's a Tory or not, she's entertaining and love that she's epitomises British brashness. she maaaay, however, get a wee bit irritating along the way but I love her for now)
Vinegar Strokes (so glad she stayed over Gothy, I was scared that the edit was shaping up for a Vinegar first boot. love how loud and joyous she is, hope she stays for a while longer)
The Vivienne (anyone that rocks up and shoves Kim Woodburn impressions down my throat is fine by me. she's living up to her credentials)
Sum Ting Wong (kind of wrote her off in the Meet The Queens video, but she was a pleasant surprise. Her stamp look was incredible and I loved the bull look)
Divina De Campo (she's a bit of an enigma because I don't know if she's being herself or not. she claims she's not this competitive queen, but it doesn't come across like that. I do like what's she's adding to the show, however)
Cheryl Hole (yeah, she does have those vapid Derrick Berry vibes, and she's a silly cow for not wearing a bag for her Queen look, but she does seem like she's going to be the centrepiece of causing drama so she can stay)
Crystal (the cool queen thing is a bit boring, and she doesn't have exude charisma, but I can see myself liking her drag/runways)
Blue Hyrdangea (a teeny-weeny bit annoying and too whimsical for my liking, but obviously talented and seems pleasant)
Scaredy Kat (thought she would be like how Gothy ended up personality-wise, but was quite surprised by how comfortable and confident she came across. Personally, not a big lover of her drag, though)
Gothy Ken Doll (I mean, I almost want to put her in green because it was all a hilarious mess. Ru cracking up when he realised he cast someone with no personality, during the photoshoot was great. The lip-sync was hilariously awful, and she had that terrible 'Gothy Ken Doll, Gothy Ken Doll" voguing thing they tried to make happen - all a hot mess. And omg at the Miss Vanjie impression at the end. I feel like a **** making fun of her, but I really wonder how she got on the show in the first place.)

Really excited for next week. Alan was a great judge this week (lmfao at the estate agent comparison) so I hope Graham is equally as good. Andrew Garfield was also a good pick as the first guest judge. Maisie Williams looks like she's ****ting a brick and doesn't know where the **** she is in the preview for next episode. So glad Michelle and Ru are part of the show (the prosthetic nose thing was so, so funny).

That was so much better. I love the wig and makeup she must've been gutted getting there and being told she couldn't do it, so instead had to cut the Thames out of cardboard and eat a few KitKats to get foil for the London Eye.

re. Fashion Photo RuView, it's nice to watch a recap that actually makes an effort to understand some of the cultural references, or at least doesn't come off as completely ignorant when discussing them

(compared to say, Yuhua's bootleg version, where the hosts misunderstood the pun in Cheryl's name, thought her having toilet paper stuck to her shoe was accidental, didn't make an effort to google why bulls are relevant to Birmingham, didn't understand why Blu was wearing cranes or what H&W stands for despite Blu explaining it during the episode, and didn't know who Pete Burns was) (or compared to Nicole Byer's podcast, where she and her truly obnoxious co-host didn't know that Northern Ireland was in the UK, thought that Belfast was in England and couldn't be bothered to remember what Kim Woodburn and Coronation Street were called, let alone google their significance) (Americans can be exhausting, is what I'm saying)

She's actually really funny when she does stand-up/appearances on TV generally, but is hugely weighed down on her podcast by the guy she co-hosts it with, who is so unbearable that he's one of Alaska and Willam's few Race Chaser enemies of the podô (along with La Toya Jackson of all people ) for contributing to that Vulture-queen-ranking article a few months back

No I'll (or someone else can) make a thread for each episode, I'll add spoilers to this title now since it's almost been a full week since the episode aired and anyone entering this thread now without wanting to be spoiled would be...quite precocious.
