I think that's a Mathematical Fractal of what one of their biggest problems was. Labour in its current form just doesn't seem or act like the party for the working class across the country, but rather for London based middle class people who drink champaign while raising money for the school down the road.

Those who represented the party in the media didn't help - Emily Thornberry comes off as the sneering elite, Dianne Abbott is an "exceptional individual", Jess Phillips is a shrill crybaby...

The only likeable ones we see much of are Sir Kier, and the woman who usually sits next to Corbyn at PMQs.

I'm not relitigating the Corbyn smears - been done to death.
Corbyn was appalling on brexit from the start, trying to play it down the middle pissed off everyone
The hand wringing campaign was 100% truthful. By any measure the NHS is in a state now compared to when the tories took over, waiting times, funding, and all the professional organisations backed this up. The willingness of people to accept foreigners as the root cause rather than a right wing ideology os the problem.
Labour ran a positive campaign about the things they wanted to do, tories ran from scrutiny, Johnson literally hiding in fridges and taking journo's phones off them to avoid looking at a sick child lying on a hospital floor.
The nationalisation ideas are extremely popular in national polling of people on all sides.
They didn't know what they were voting for - Farag said Johnsons Brexit was brexit in name only, Johnson said he had the perfect brexit. If 2 of the main players can't agree on what it actually is, then how can you expect 17m people to all know what it is?

I mean it doesn't really matter at this point, with a heavy Tory majority there isn't going to be another GE for 5 years. A smooth transition to a carefully considered leader makes more sense than flipping over to some inevitably temporary leader now, seems less stable to the public, a shift from Corbyn directly to a new (distinctly different) permanent leader - post Brexit when things are quieter - will have more impact.

Can't disagree with most of that to be fair. The NHS is in trouble long term under the Tories - that's not scare tactics, it's a fact - but Labour's over-simplified rhetoric about it has done them no favours.

Corbyn is a great candidate and labour is very lucky to have him <3 People are masochists and continue to vote against their own self interests.. brexit was always gonna win, nothing to do with how good or not good Corbyn is.

This result came as a shock to a lot of people. Like the Brexit result came as a shock. My theory on this is that, the people who make the most noise are the hard Left. Anyone thinking of voting Tory has to wade through an ocean of negative comment, insinuations that they're a bit simple... I've virtually given up talking about politics on here. I've been branded a bigot, been told I'm anti-Muslim (I'm anti-terrorist, that's quite different), you only have to read through the comments following the count last night to see the angle at which the hard Left approaches elections.

It's done now. Labour's biggest mistake was to back Corbyn. Hopefully, they'll choose someone now who has a chance of making a strong opposition, because without a strong opposition the Tories have free reign.

I'm not denying that there is Islamaphobia within the Tory party, the difference is that I believe it will be addressed by the Conservatives in a way Anti-Semitism never was by Labour.

We'll see, won't we.
