You say that as if 2010 the Torys didn't have to be propped up by the Lib Dems, 2015 Camerons majority was so slim, May went again, and oh boy did people not vote against their own interests on that one

But they were still Tory governments at the end of the day and after almost a decade of ****shows, the Tory now have their largest majority in decades despite how it's widely acknowledged that they have been shambolic. If almost ten years of this **** isn't enough to turn people against the Tories, nothing will.

All you have to do is get Murdoch to spin the idiot rags for you and you're guaranteed to always hold on to power.

If Johnson is gonna be as bad as many seem to hope think he'll be, having a decent opposition in place could take his place in the following election.

There's no need to give up, let's just hope their next leader is more New Labour and/or Northern to make them more attractive to Joe Public. Whoever it is shouldn't be another London Bubble Leftie.

And all it takes is a little bit of spin to discredit any opposition. Boris is a KNOWN liar that's been sacked for lying, he has buried reports about Russia's influence and he has done things during this election that would have sunk other people's campaigns (Let's not forget that Ed Milliband was essentially sunk by how he ate a ****ing sandwich) but the public are closing their ears and eyes and going 'lalalalallalala' when even the NHS is at stake.

The people have proved to me that they are irreparable idiots and I will never place my faith in the public again. Let the tories bleed them dry and let them thank their overlords for it. I've had enough of hoping for better. My hope is dead.

Does it matter? The media will just crucify them somehow and make them hated too. They even managed to do it to Bland Miliband ffs. They managed to make a guy who has fought for minorities his whole life seem like a racist. I suppose you got to be Tony Blair and be willing to send us to a pointless war and kill a million of those Muslims to stand a chance.

I’ll go with Rayner or Thornberry though.

...the future of Labour...?...there is just so much bad stuff in the media about politicians in general...but Labour’s youngest MP, Nadia Whittome is a shining beacon of inspiration for a hopeful political future...’the power of youth’.......

The youngest MP in the UK has pledged to give away a large amount of her Ł79,000 salary to charity.

Labour's Nadia Whittome, 23, who won the Nottingham East seat in the general election, will only take home Ł35,000 after tax.

She will donate the rest to Nottingham charities because she does not want to earn more than public sector workers.

Ms Whittome told Nottinghamshire Live. "It's not about philanthropy and it's not that MPs don't deserve that salary, it's the fact our teaching assistants, nurses and firefighters do as well.

"When they get the pay rise they deserve, so will I. I hope this decision sparks a conversation about earnings.”

Could Jess Phillips
do well in Scotland?
Dunno how she would do. I want a Labour leader to stick up for Scotland's place in the UK, and not splitting up Britain. Not like Corbyn coming here saying we're going to allow another independence referendum which just fuelled the SNP.

I know Jess Phillips was a big enthusiast for another EU ref, and I think one of the things the new Labour leader needs to do is acknowledge, or at least realise, that policy cost votes.

She's a muslim Ammi. She'll be flooded with charges of anti semitism across the newspapers again.

https://www.politicshome.com/news/uk...e-islam-threat

54% of the Tory rank-and-file believe that Islam is generally a threat to the British way of life

60% think that Islam is generally a threat to Western civilisation

The YouGov study follows polling results released last month, which found that almost half of Conservative members would not accept a Muslim as the country's Prime Minister.

I know, I know, they just wanted to get brexit done, and we need to win these people back remember?

She sounds like an amazing person but she'd be accused of being a terrorist sympathiser in seconds and the idiot rags would mount a campaign against her based on her race. Tory voters won't change their minds for a muslim woman. Boris has as much support as he has because he ticks all the white- I mean, 'right' boxes for Tory voters.

Dezzy it doesn't matter who becomes the next labour leader as they'll instantly get hate regardless of race, gender or whatever they are . It seems like a lost cause but i guess they've got to try .

I’ve just seen Richard Burgon being interviewed by Sophie Ridge on Sky News .. well she couldn’t interview him as appears to be a robot ( with some serious glitches ) .

What a complete idiot ..

Boris must be praying this chump is the next Labour leader

Also

I’ve been watching loads of interviews after the election ‘fallout ‘

Why when every male labour politician is directly asked if THEY will be standing for the labour leader role each one suggests the name of a FEMALE labour politician ?!?

It reminds me a bit of The Apprentice where at the start of each challenge the team members try their best to get someone else to be the team leader !!

i would have no objection to labour having a term or 2 in office if they started with a caring, middle of the road approach, and for goodness sake, pick the best candidate for the job. Someone with a bit of charisma, someone that can communicate well and wont fudge answering simple questions

Labour previously had a reputation of being driven by the unions, Tony Blair brought that in check for a while (hence his success) and now the power has reverted back to the unions. That needs to be brought back under control for labour to gain back its voters.

If a woman turns out to be the best person who's in the running, sure. But no-one should be chosen because of their gender, that's just stupid.

They should play it safe with someone like Andy Burnham, David Milliband ... give the Left a voice, but a sensible and credible one.

I don't know a great deal of female Labour MPs offhand...
Emily Thornberry - repellent, sneering. London bubble.
Dianne Abbott - mentally handicapped
Jess Phillips - would probably break down crying every time she got a mean tweet
They're the three "main" ones we hear from these days.
